Thanks! I'm about ready to order some more certificates. There are a couple of new places in my area listed on restaurant.com and this is a great deal for eating there!

One thing folks may want to consider doing is buy a gift certificate during the sale, using them to actually purchase dining certificates later in the year. I did that last year around Christmas time, when they were 70% off. I just "cashed in" the last of those this past week for an upcoming trip to Milwaukee.

60% off what?

i find when the 60% sales are held that none of the popular restaurants ever seem to have any certificates left. really not good for Colorado Springs.

Just be aware when you buy these things of the Citispree fiasco. Citispree was an organization that sold restaurant certificates at a discount. It had contracts with the restaurants to honor the certificates. Then, after having a huge sale, it went bankrupt without any notice.

All of the restaurants thereafter refused to honor the certificates, leaving many of us out hundreds of dollars on certs. we had purchased.

Question on the Gift certificate. Are these redeemable individually? For example, if I buy $100 gift cert, then when I go to cash it, I will actually get 4 individual $25 certs? Is this right?
Also, what is the benefit to doing it this way? Do you just decide later which restaurants you want to visit?

Thanks!

As I said, I bought $100 worth for like $12. When I redeemed them it was piecemeal - - two for our May Wmsburg trip redeemed in March, then one for Branson and another for Milwaukee, both redeemed on July 1st (the first day for the "premium" limited supply for the two restaurants we really wanted).

Additionally, one of the two we got for Wmsburg was not used on that trip so I notified them and they redeposited the $25 back into the account, which we also redeemed on July 1st (for another premium Milwaukee restaurant).

I think it is the best way to go, especially when you don't know where or when you might be going somewhere. We have no restaurants in Ames or Des Moines for that matter, so I can only benefit from them while traveling.

I don't know anything about the company you are talking about (Citispree) but I am relatively confident in Restaurant.com's ability to remain solvent. I've been using their certificates since 2004 or 2005 with no problems. They have been 100% in all customer service interactions I've had with them including when the one-and-only Ames (IA) restaurant participate with them, closed unexpectedly.

Restaurant.com contact me to say the three outstanding certificates that I had must be used within 30 days (by the date the restaurant was closing) . . . but that if we couldn't or didn't not to worry as they would give us credit for any and all unused certificates. We had two left - which they made good on.

I would never hesitate to buy from them!
