If I were to purchase a floating week at Point at Poipu what qualities would I look for? The water assessment has been paid, it is a two BR, EOY usage. Is one location better than another at the resort, and if so, which one?? If I would have to get involved with Diamond Club or anything to do with Diamond other than pay my maintenance fee I would not even consider purchasing. But never having stayed at this resort what is best building to stay in and what to beware of????

We love the resort, and just bought another week last June. If you're buying points, don't bother. If you're buying a deeded week, DRI won't transfer the deed unless the entire special assessment and all the MF's have been paid.

With a float/float you can book any category, if you book early enough, i.e. 360 days in advance. When you buy a deeded week, you won't be part of the Club, you just contact the resort directly. You can request certain rooms or buildings, but all they can guarantee is the category you get at the time of booking. We always request ocean front, corner room, in an even numbered building. These rooms have the best views, but they're also the furthest from the parking lot. The corner rooms are larger, and the lanai space is much larger. We've stayed in many different rooms and different categories, and never had a bad room. People with kids often request a room near the pool. People who might be bothered by kids banging around upstairs request a top floor room.

Here's some pictures of the property we've taken over the years:

Thank you, Art ~ this is great information and very helpful.

Aloha to our membership,

There have been several discussions regarding the upcoming elections at the Point. A few facts first.

There is only ONE position available for election on the AOAO Board this time around
There are TWO positions available on the VOA Board
It is in the best interests of DRI if there are large numbers of owners receiving votes in the election because it makes it easier for DRI to use the proxies which they hold to maintain their control over the board(s) and therefore OUR resort.

Very soon, you will be receiving in the mail your ballot for the elections to the Board of Directors. It is important that you either vote or, assign your proxy vote - DO NOT DO NOTHING.

ALSO IMPORTANT:

COPP is recommending that for the AOAO, that all votes be cast for ROBERT HALEM.
COPP is recommending that for the VOA, that all votes be cast for ROBERT HALEM and ROBERT CUMMINGS.
If you do not intend to cast your ballots yourself, we ask that you assign all PROXIES to RICHARD OKE, who will attend the meeting and vote your Proxy as noted above.

Note: as soon as the Ballots come out, we will send out a Newsletter with complete instructions and as well, post these instructions on our website. Please wait for this Newsletter before voting or assigning your proxy.

Only by re-taking the boards which run our resort can it once again become the vacation experience which we were all looking for when we made our purchases there. It is OUR resort and we DESERVE to have our hopes and dreams preserved!

Board positions and Voting

I am disappointed that I wasn't talked to or given any consideration for the recommendations that went out today for this year's election and ask that you consider me when voting.

I submitted the below on December 13, 2012. I also have training in Change Management and Conflict Resolution.

Subject: Serving on the Board of Directors (Poipu Point Vacation Owners Association)

By submission of this e-mail, I would like to express my interest in becoming a board member for the Poipu Point Vacation Owners Association. My husband and I own two weeks at the Point of Poipu and I believe I could contribute to the existing board and become a valued asset in a short period of time. I do have experience in a similar setting by serving as the Chairperson of the Rules and Infractions Committee and as the Inland Shores Homeowners Association Board President here in Oregon. I have since moved to another city and no longer serve.

In addition to the experience I mentioned above, I have a BA Degree in Business Management and 23 years of business experience working for local government and 14 years of experience working for two major corporations (Northrop Grumman and currently Unisys). I mention my corporate experience because I am able to create and interpret contracts, financial reports, manage vendors and have working knowledge of many other aspects of business transactions.

I do not have any affiliation, current or past, to Diamond Resorts or any of its entities.

Regards, Lisa Vasquez
