Reserving newer section [Vistana Villages]

Hi, we are owners at the Bella secton of Vistana Villages. If we would like to stay at our home resort, but at another section of the resort, do we have to reserve at 8 months out? If we reserve at 12 months out, can we then request a newer section? Thanks, Sue

No, I don't think that's how it works. My understanding is that you can only reserve unit in your phase (Bella, Key West, etc) 12 months out.

That's how it works in Maui. If I want my home property (WKORV-N), I can book at 12 months. If I want to stay at the original property (WKORV), I would have to treat it as a trade and wait until 8 months out. I'd also lose my view.

WSJ is unique in that most of the units are fixed weeks. That makes trading very diffiicult. So I would definitely book at my home resort at 12 months out and then try to trade after that. If you're looking at summer months or Jan-March, it'll be a very difficult trade. If you're using StarOptions, you're put in the same boat as everyone else. Having purchased at another WSJ phase doesn't help you out at all, I'm afraid.

Sorry, I stand corrected I spoke to someone at Starwood and they verified that to change phases you can do so at 8 mts not 12.
