Just bought DSVll white week resale. I'm not sure when I want to book my week in the fall. I understand that Marriott may take several months to register the ownership transfer.
If I wait until the spring am I likely to have difficulty booking a white week at DSVll? Or would I do better to book a week while the property is in escrow (the seller's agent will do this) and then deposit it to II if if don't want that week?
Thanks

Hugh

You should decide whether you believe you will want to use the week or deposit it with II. If you want to use it, have the sales agent book the week you want. If you will deposit it, have the agent book the most powerful trading week possible during your September-December White season.

To find out which weeks in your season are the best for exchanging, go to the resort's page in the II online resort directory and click on "Travel Demand Index" on the right side of the page.

Give the agent your list of preferred weeks, in order of priority.

Follow Up Question

Similar situation, Although in my case the deed is recorded and Marriott Owner Services says it's about a month to completely transfer.

I was able to get to split my week and get two separate reservation numbers. The question is, how long before interval will recognize me as the owner? I renewed my membership with them and had them confirm my membership with Marriott.

I think it's up in the air whether or not that will pass muster. Anybody have any experience with this situation?

II requires that the unit be transferred into your name before letting you add it to your membership and trade it. Unfortunately, II either charges a fee to add a new unit or requires you to extend your membership.

Welcome to DSV II. We have owned there for 10 years. Just a hint: in the white season, we always lock-off the unit. Sometimes we deposit the 1 bdrm and have always received a two bedroom as the return trade. We have frequently traded our efficiency for a two bedroom as well. It depends on the week you are requesting. The other thing we have done is use each side as a trader to other places. We sometimes just purchase a "getaway" week at DSV if we want to go to our home resort.

So many choices, so little time! Good luck to you.

Lisa--hi neighbor--I live right around the corner from you (at Newport and Chapman--up the hill from the Pacific Ranch Market).

does anyone know, will this same plan work at Shadow Ridge?

Does this usually happen during flexchange?
What about trying to exchange during a high demand season like summer in Hawaii or NCV? Would it maybe be better to leave as a 2 bedroom or could a lock off pull these?

I am also waiting to be recognized my Marriott for DSV II - Gold, the deed recorded mid. Jan.:cheer:
Thanks!!

Same boat

I actually have a Blue DSVI.

The deed recorded back in January and there was some snafu with the closing company and Marriott, so the Owner Transfer Dept just acknowledged they received the deed a few weeks ago.

I had no plan of buying a timeshare at the time but I saw an eBay auction and it was an unbelievable deal. Hopefully it'll trade remotely as good as the CaliforniaGirl's white/gold week.

I figured if I split or lockout the week every year and shoot for an II 2 bedroom during the flexchange period (mostly for vegas trips) with either portion I should definitely get my moneys worth. I'd also want to mostly stay in Marriott's so the 24 day priority was very enticing in the event I wanted to plan more than 60 days out.
