Ok- we rescinded thanks to this board and my calcuations we are going to save over 30k. In essence when we sat down and discussed it and looked over the contract it seemed pretty simple. Yes we are losing out starwood points they gave us plus what we charged over 180-190000 points which equates to about 6000 dollars doesn't seem right in exchange for the 30K over what'd we be paying.. We still can do our external changes w/in the timeshares w/ Svo which is important to us, and use II. But my concern is if I want to split my 2 brdm lockut and use the 1 bdrm in Maui and use 87100 pts and then use the other 67K whereever I can ( either Bahamas off season or studio or elsewhere, ) can I still do that? Does anyone know? Also w/ gold member they said we'd get 5 pts per dollar spent w/ starwood? Now someone said I could apply for gold member anyways.. Also what is the elite program

Next question what are my next steps. We 've really researched this and it doesn't look like a condo will be an option for now, and I've looked at the other programs. -Marriott, Hyatt etc and we really like the Starwood, chances will be at Maui everyyear but the ability to go to the Atlantis, Kauia, Aruba, St John, Orlando, Etc are very attractive to me.. The other resorts yes may have more properties but what Starwood has is where I like to travel.
So w/ that being said we do want to stay w/ WOKRV North.. And I have found some properties, So what next when you make an offer or someone accepts what happens next? Please help.. Do you start the negotiations/ and deal w/ their closing company or w/ the real estate company they are using etc??

NO rush, but if I find something that is an attractive option we myswell go for it as we know what we want now.. And I am still do my research here. I have read soo much in the last few days.

We know we want the newer / w/ two lanai feature at the North even if it's a bit more, ocean view..we just loved the property and the features it will have. Even tho it will go down a bit more I am sure, but right now we feel it's a great savings..

I never thought either that yes someday if we don't pass this on to our children we could sell for a minimal fee and still end up paying less overall..

See this thread for assistance with the negotiating process. Then see the "Once You Have a Buyer" section of this "how to sell" article for assistance with the title transfer/closing process. Both links are from the top of the list of topics for this Buying, Selling, Renting forum.

I had provided the above response to your other post. However, I have now deleted that thread because multiple posts with the same questions or message are not permitted on these forums.

Yes, you can do that. You are allowed to split your resale points up into 2 vacations. But you can't buy 2 - 61K weeks resale (Like two 1 bedroom weeks at at the sheraton in Orlando) and combine them for a 122k points vacation.

thx bill

got it. so if i want to do 2 weeks in orland i just book one studio one week and one 1 bdrm for one week,

or go one week and use it at maui and the other in orlando..

thanks.

hahah i just sw/ Starwood sales to get the info on resales he was relunctant to talk to me. but then tried to get me interesting in cancun. Selling price for same exact property at WOVRN for 38900. however then you have only the ability to book at your home property 12 mths out which would be Cancun and that is not where we want to go every year and then worry we won't get Maui when we want to.. but not a bad price pre construction??

I don't have a great understanding of the Starwood system, but I would love to stay at the Ka'anapali resort sometime.

If you are saying that instead of your WKORN week, you can use the staroptions to get a vacation in Orlando, at the Vistana Villages, I can tell you that would be a big waste of money because I can get into a two-bedroom Vistana Villages for $504 (maintenance fees for our CO ski week) + $139 fee through II any week. We also get a bonus week for that resort, so we can book two, two-bedroom weeks for a total of $504+139+$299.

I wouldn't use the Maui week like that, if I could even afford to own there. I would rent it out.

In general, the top Starwood resorts are too valuable and expensive to use to exchange with II or for lower level resorts in Starwood. You will almost never get an exchange of equal value through II, and exchanging to the other top Starwood resorts can be challanging, but not impossible - especially if you are flexible and persistant.

I would never convert my WKORV ocean view 2 bdm. to Starpoints, or exchange it through II - but I already have it rented for next summer for $3,400. There is a lot of demand for private rentals, so the years you can't or don't want to use it, your best options is to try for a high-value Starwood exchange, or to rent it.

If you want a property for exchanging through II, buy a good trader, resale, for a lot less money to use for exchanging - but not a top-dollar Starwood property.
