Hi everyone, I have a few more questions if any of you good people could help a newbie:wave: First, I just came back from the vistana villages and stayed in the keys. LOve it. Not the price to buy though so we said no. Even though we bought the explorer package with the amex card knowing that it was just to pay for our vaca next year. However now i am thinking i would love to buy a resale. We generally vaca on presidents week now because of our three kids, and we take a week in the summer, generally we go to williamsburg in virg. So my questions are If i buy a resale at v.v. if i can the keys can i use that to trade to go other places, what is the trading power like in II. Another question is if I save up enough points can i use those points to book a week at V.V then use my week that i bought to trade into II to go to Virginia. Sorry this is so long I am just doing some research to see if buying a t.s. makes sense to us.Thank you Leslee:D

Starwood is not a points system, so you won't have any points. To exchange a Vistana Villages week for a Williamsburg resort, you would have to exchange the week you own through an exchange system, but there are no points involved. You simply deposit your week, and get a week in return.

In general, Vistana Villages isn't going to be a top trader, because Florida is over-built with timeshares, so if there is another location you want to visit on a regular basis, you might be wiser to buy somewhere else and then use it (a stronger trader) to make exchanges with occasionally.

My suggestion is to read the FAQ at the top of the board, and the Starwood Advice article listed at the bottom of the FAQ, for more information about how Starwood works, and then come back and ask questions about anything you don't understand.

Im sorry Denise I worded that wrong i meant the points you get when you use the card and we got 11,000 points when we bought the explorer package.

This is changing constantly, but it used to be that you could only use Starpoints at hotels. Recently, they started accepting them at Starwood timeshares too. However, I don't know if they accept Starpoints at Vistana Villages or not. Just so you know, 11,000 points won't get you much. Lots of places are more then 10,000 points a night. If you go to www.spg.com, you may be able to see if VV accepts Starpoints.

OK - I checked and on the SPG VV website it says: This property has limited participation with the Starwood Preferred Guest program. For further details please see the Starwood Preferred Guest Terms and Conditions.

Whatever that means! I would suggest calling the resort or SPG and ask about using Starpoints.
