Question for TUGGERS who have bought resale Marriotts.

Once the paperwork is in Marriott's hands (everything is completed with the county) and all Marriott has to do is simply transfer into the new owner's name, how long should or does this process usually take?

1 week?, 1 month?, longer?

Is this transfer paperwork performed at the resort or at the Marriott HQ in Maryland?

Thank you.

My experience with 2 resale purchases has been that it seems to take forever. Both my purchases required lots of chasing from me to the selling agent and them to Marriott. Both times Marriott lost the paperwork and it had to be sent. My most recent purchase was agreed and paid for with the selling agent in Nov 2009 and not finalised until Sept 2010 when I finally got the paperwork back from MVCI.

Mine recently took about a month. The whole resale purchase process took about 3 months.

Executed purchase agreement: August 13, 2009
ROFR waiver: September 1, 2009
Deed recorded with the county: October 2, 2009
Marriott received xfer paperwork: October 5, 2009
Obtained owner number: October 13,2009

I just closed on two Marriott weeks, it took 25 days from the time the paperwork got to Marriott, they got it on August 30 2010, and I had my Marriott account number on Sept. 24 2010.

We were recognized as owners less than a week after Marriott received our paperwork in December 2009. I was allowed to make a reservation immediately, but it was over a month before I received my maintenance fee statement for 2010.

It seems to me that USA based owners get a much better service out of MVCI on resales than we do in Europe !!!

We were recognized as owners by Marriott about 2 weeks after the paper work was sent by the closing company. They estimated 2-4 weeks and I called Marriott after 2 weeks. They told me our account number and then we received a letter with the info within a week.

One month +

I submitted the paperwork, then waited for about 2 weeks. I called asking about the status, and they said I needed to fax my driver's license in. After I resubmitted, they said it could take up to 30 days from receipt of the final piece of information.

I kept calling and they approved about 2 weeks after the driver's license submission.

Ours took 4 weeks, without follow up.
