Any HGVC resales owners who had a good experience moving into MAX with a new purchase $. I’m still highly skeptical but want to hear some positive experiences.

I was able to book Cabo Azul at a discount once when Max first came out after having moved to max with an upgrade of a resale. Haven't been impressed with the availability for desirable locations and wound up picking up some Cabo Azul points resale to be able to book there directly instead of via Max. Put me down as "meh; it can work" but nothing to write home about. If you don't own bHC it's also got the all inclusive club dues but our resales we started out with were bHC anyway so not a big deal to us.

Max's biggest benefit to me is the ability to book and cancel without fees! This saves me $1000+ in fees annually as I like to reserve many prime dates as units becomes available and cancel if I'm unable to use.

That’s what I meant about the all inclusive club dues. It is nice, but obtainable by picking up a resale bHC ownership at a lower cost. You can get a 1 BR EOY at The District gold for about a dollar right now - not the greatest mf/point, but the fee savings could pencil out as worthwhile.

What did everyone buy to be able to bring resale into MAX?

it's a mystery. i bought Paradise and W57th (both resale) within a few weeks of each other and ended up with Max. I have taken advantage of the free guest cert each year but already had free reservations due to BHC AI and have yet fo find a Max resort that interests me and/or has availability.

@letsgobobby, since you own W57th and are in Max, are you just paying Max dues or bHC dues?

bHC - I thought about calling to ask them to correct that but ... 😆

It seems like the NYC ones tend to cause it the most...not sure about others.
