Can anyone tell me how to request an Ocean Front room for my 30th Anniversary?
We are booked for a 1 bedroom for 1 week at Hilton Grande Anderson property in Myrtle Beach.
Thanks in advance….
Carol

For the HGVC properties, you need to book the Ocean Front room. If you are elite plus or elite premier and maybe if there are units being unused for that time period, you could get upgraded but it would probably be a very low chance. People specifically book Ocean Front which are more points so if there aren't any available online, then they are probably booked. It doesn't hurt to call the property and ask but I would not get my hopes up.

It was booked through RCI, they didn’t offer an option…

If I remember correctly, there are units in Anderson that aren't HGVC so it could be some of those units. You maybe able to tell by the number of points that it costs. For example, I see in RCI that a 2 bedroom is available the week of November 4th for 7,680 points. That is roughly the cost of a 2 bedroom Ocean View.

Just to add, make sure to look at the Fees section. Unlike booking through HGVC, there is a daily fee and maybe a parking fee. The self parking is free for owners but sometimes there are fees for RCI and Hilton reservations.

You can request it a few days before check in but it wouldn't be guaranteed. With rci you kind of just get what you get. It is more likely that you will get ocean view. Last summer I had a 2BR through rci for mid to late June (2 consecutive weeks). We did get ocean front but it was on the second floor right above the bar and pool. That was fine with us. My husband would rather be lower, anyway and this way we could opt for the stairs when we weren't carrying things up and down. The bar closed by 9pm and the pool closed and locked by 10pm. Karaoke and DJ in the afternoon could be a little loud but was usually only 2-4 pm and if we closed the balcony doors, it wasn't loud at all. View was great even from the lower floor.

Carol, if you can't get an oceanfront room, I would ask for the highest floor possible. That will give you a better chance at an unobstructed view. Ask for the north end of the building if you enjoy sunrises. Ask for the south side of the building if you enjoy sunsets (over the city not the water). The south side rooms have natural light longer during the day than the north side rooms. Look up Kirk's Ice Cream if you like ice cream. It's close by.

but it is possible that you will end up with a low floor and ocean view. The 3 BR's are all ocean front (or at least have one ocean facing balcony). So if you want to guarantee ocean front that is what you need to book. It isn't managed by Hilton, at least I don't think so. And the building is shared with full time owners. Exchangers are not given priority for views so the more off season the better your chances. My 2BR last June had an oceanside balcony on the second floor, it was toward the front of the building but even that didn't have a bad view.
