I have a WM II request first I started in 2023 for Maui and Kauai. A total of 19 resorts over 8 weeks beginning Memorial Day 2026. I’ve exchanged successfully with II using deposits from non-WM resorts. Do request first have similar priority to deposit first?

This may be unique to WM and may be better asked in the WM forum. The priority shouldn't matter. With points, points have access to see all inventory. I don't really know how they rank points requests against other points based requests from within the same system or from other systems.

This is for an ongoing search with request first. The match happens based on priority. My understanding was first in, first match of course with the exception of Marriott which gets priority to match to other Marriott brands. I’ve also read that with WM the request first May often have priority over deposit based on season as request first is always Red while deposit first May be a lower season.

I do believe point based deposits are first in first out. But then you have non point based requests that could be challenging point based requests for a match. It was noted in the past that, if all things are equal, a deposit first has priority over request first. I thought when you deposit WM, you are depositing a certain number of points. Aren't points simply points?

No. Seasons and unit size determine points/credits with WM. When you deposit first you are depositing a week. If you pick a low season, it takes less credits, but will be less likely to match well. With request first it’s always Red season and more credits.

For WM specific questions you should post on the WM Forum.

If you’re using WM Request First, make sure you’re searching with a three bedroom float to get the highest WM trading power. WM will charge you the number of credits based on the II unit size booked.

Just don’t use ePlus with request first (see 1st link below). Try to avoid changing dates after you’ve completed an exchange. If you have to make a change, request a replacement week instead (see 2nd link)

WM deposit first, gives you less flexibility. WM selects the week to deposit into II based on their seasons but it may not be a great week with II.

Here’s what I posted in 2022, regarding my WM deposit first experience.

Also, your Hawaii search is during the peak weeks when most families want to travel (see Interval’s Travel Demand Index for Hawaii below).

During high demand periods, there will be higher owner usage (either owner stays or rentals) and lots of exchangers competing for available weeks. Marriott and Vistana exchangers will grab the larger units (one bedrooms and larger) during their priority preference window. Having an early request is helpful but not a guarantee especially if you’re searching for availability at high demand resorts during peak travel dates.

That chart is way off of my experience. I think whale season on Maui is toughest to get. Summer on Maui is so hot.

In my experience, demand for Hawaii is highest during school holidays, including summer.
