Renting out [Staroption Reservations]?

Regarding Vistana - How about renting out a unit booked at the 8-month window with StarOptions? Is that "legal"?

If you are using staroptions from/at your home resort then renting is ok. Guest certificate will be needed

Unless the Flex programs have special rules, technically, if you reserve in the 12-8 month window you should be just fine renting it out.

It is against the VSN terms and conditions, but a lot of people do it. Do with that that how you wish and understand possible consequences.

Can you rent a week booked at your home resort in the season you own if booked with SO’s (inside of 8 months to checkin)?

As I read it, it is permissible to rent any stay at your home resort(s), whether booked 8+ months out or with StarOptions less than 8 months. If you own Flex, you can rent at any of your Flex home resorts.

Only for the same season at a resort in which you own.

The text on every Reservation Confirmation is pretty clear. I do not understand where the confusion is anymore.

The reason is likely…
If people use their cheap SOs from their VOI and rents out WKORV/N/NN (e.g.), it takes away from people actually trying to use their SOs for VSN stays (2nd pillar of VSE Ownership). It also tends to visitors who may care less about what owners have paid for and continue to pay for.
Certainly have observed this more than a few times.

There are people who have turned this into a profitable business - I have met a few thru this forum and around HotTub conversations (that now will potentially receive 1099s).
Not to difficult to understand… IMO

Then… there is the section in CCRs about using VOIs for running a Business (or something like that) that may also have implications

I tend to agree but I'm not sure about "It also tends to visitors who may care less about what owners have paid for and continue to pay for.". I have only ever rented out my Maui and Cancun ownership weeks, sometimes to friends and family but sometimes through Redweek where I must admit I have absolutely no insight to the 'character' of the renters or whether they had any insight into how much I had paid as an owner.
