I received a call from Interval International asking if we are using our "getaway" weeks this year. They are asking us to pay $399 per week (4 weeks total) in exchange for renting those weeks at a rate of $1,800 to $2,100 per week. Seems like a no-brainer, so immediately I had my doubts. Has anyone done this or heard of it?

They should just deduct their fee from the money they owe you and send you the balance

SCAM!!! You didn't receive a call from II. It was from someone trying to steal your money.

SCAM II doesn't do this

This is a scam, definitely. If it smells fishy, it's fishy.

Agree that II most likely will never call. I just did a Getaway with II and managed to get a week at WKOR-N ocean front, high floor studio for $700! We had to scramble when Kauai shut down on us and managed to get this sweetheart of a deal (week of Feb 5) Maybe a fluke due to COVID and I made this reservation at the end of the year so pricing must have been aggressive. So II getaways can be very good value if you can get them at the right time. I did everything online and process very easy. I did call the resort though (we also own at the Nanea) so I’m familiar with the Westin properties and confirmed that I had indeed secured a great deal.

I have some getaways I’ll sell you

II rents out the weeks themselves. Why would they need you to do it for them? 100% scam.

Don't do it. I let someone use my Interval exchanged week for reimbursement of my original MF cost + exchange fee just few months ago. This person received the Interval confirmation and immediately called Interval reporting me. My account was locked by Interval and I had to let this lady to use for free, in exchange for her witness to Interval that I let her use for free and no money changed hand. I didn't want to do it, but in our phone call, she specifically said "Then you have to let me use for free, or your account will be locked."

Was she someone you knew or what? Sounds like she knew what she was doing and had planned it.

I don't want to call her out, but she might see this post. She definitely knows what she is doing.

This is not the first report about this...

Disturbing that several people are getting approached with this same scam.

If that had happened to me I would have contacted the person and said "A lot of people say I look like Liam Neeson. Have you ever seen the movie Taken?" :giggle:

The crazy thing is that this is the most common call you get if you own a timeshare. I get them constantly, I just searched for this thread and found it because I just received another one now and this is the first one I have received since I have been on TUG. I probably would have atleast 50x of them by now; but I setup a new automated anti-spam gateway for my phone number and the spammers auto dialer systems haven't gotten through to me yet.

LOL. This thread was started February 24, 2021.
Sounds liked a scam.
