Renting Interval Exchange Week

I have 5 weeks booked at Marriott Grande Ocean from December 30th, 20 through February 3,2004 and may not be able to go due to my wife's illness. Can I get 5 guest certificates and let someone else use them?
They are Interval exchanges.
You should be able to use Guest Certificates to give the weeks away, as long as you aren't charging anyone for it, to include reimbursement of the underlying Maintenance Fees of the weeks/points you used to secure those exchanges.

While you may think you should be able to do this, II doesn't and they are the ones that count.

If you read what I wrote, I said GIVE away, as in NOT charging anything. So yes, II thinks you should be able to do that.

Be careful, do not, i mean do not do it. You might receive this email from Interval like I did. Your account will be suspended.

I would not be selling or renting these weeks but giving them away. However they would need a guest certificate. Do I have to pay for them too.

You can use your guests credit card to pay for the guest certificate directly. If the guest is a stranger, then this would be a problem. If it is a friend or family member, then all should be okay to use their card for the payment. The same can be done for getaways. Use your guests credit card to pay for it and the GC and all is fine.

Your call on whether you feel the terms and conditions below allow it.
The advice from @dioxide45 is practical advice on what seems to not get flagged by II.
If you take the approach of having other people use their credit cards to pay for II products often, you can fall foul of the personal use terms for your membership.

No. Based on my prior conversation with Interval, you have to pay for guest certification. No money exchanges hands allowed. It is just one call from your guest asking Interval some questions, and your account will be locked or suspended.

I have the guest use their credit card to pay the Interval fees, nothing more. I doubt Interval cares.
This is how Interval told me to do it.
