I saw an ad from Go Koala on vrbo for a week stay next year for Point of Poipu. I could not find that listing on their site though, not sure because it is for 2024. Has anyone had any recent experience renting from Go Koala via VRBO? I am able to cancel a month before check-in.

Also, the rooms at Point of Poipu seem very dated, how is the cleanliness?

You may have to dig a bit to find it on Koala, but I would bet you can book it directly through Koala. I sent feedback today about my Westin and being unable to see it by searching >Brand > Westin.

Love that Koala is free to list and use it for all of my rentals. Easy as well. Even on my pain meds, it's been simple to list. Just sayin'.

So is this GK listing their ads on VRBO, or is it owners with GK ads also listing there?

Interesting if GK is expanding alliances to broaden reach of their ads.

I'm still not comfortable with filling HGVC short stays with GK, I did it once but most of their wish ads could not be filled from home week reservations.

Did you try looking on Koala by date?

I love Point at Poipu and stayed in a pretty new unit about two years ago, or maybe it was 3 and a little before Covid shutdowns, so January of2020. Nice unit, beautiful grounds.

On the hilton website and various review sites, I see the same photos so I assume all the rooms look the same?

I've sent Go Koala an email and see what they say if that is their listing. I've searched by date/Point of Poipu and cleared all filters on the GK website and did not see it. The price is very good, not sure if its "too good to be true".

Update: I booked and it is from Go Koala via VRBO, paid deposit. Can cancel 30 days before. It's a garden view. Is there a chance the owner can retract the listing?

Koala has terms that keep owners from backing out. So no.

Why wouldn't you book directly on Go Koala and avoid the VRBO fees? :ponder:

I don't know if Koala marks their listings up when putting them on Vrbo or Airbnb. Vrbo or Airbnb charges a fee to the renter just like Koala does. Though I don't know how much if a difference there might be.

... just like Koala does? I can believe that....

I was trying to determine if all in price was like for like. I have no idea what Vrbo and Airbnb charge the renter nor am I critisizing that. I was just interested to know if the price was the same when comparing the same booking back to Koala.

I think he was poking fun at the following sentence: "Koala charges a fee to the renter just like Koala does." Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you might have menat that VRBO charges a fee to the renter just like Koala does.

I did. Missed that one altogether....

The listing was $1050 for 5 nights which I thought was a decent deal. TOT and resort fee are not included so maybe $70 per day x 5 days = additional $350? I'm just a little concerned since the rooms from the photos look so dated. It's for 2024 so not sure if the hotel will have some minor renovations by then. Couldn't find it on the Koala site and they are hard to reach, so just booked VRBO.

@caligal That's a great deal because all the other listings on VRBO are $700 - $1000 per NIGHT!

I will be at P@P in May so I hope the resort is not too dated.

Hate those resort fees. I thought Koala charged the renter a fee. AirBnB have cleaning fees also.

We would like to visit P@P also, only been to Kauai once, HIVC in Coconut Grove area.

Maybe Koala is trying to make it similar to vacation candy where they can charge additional commission if they advertise on other sites?
