I have HIVC, Hyatt, WM and The Bay Club. I know that you can borrow from future years with HICV and WM, and you can rent points from HICV and rent credits from other owners with WM. With Hyatt HRC you can’t do either. Does HGV or others offer this?

Moderator note. ; You’ll likely get an answer on the HGVC board. So I’m moving this there.

Yes you can borrow from future year, no charge. No you can't rent extra points. But there is open season, which is within 30 days you can opt to pay cash instead of using points.

You can save points into the next year, for a fee. So it is always better to borrow then to save, as borrow is free and save is not.

According to HGVC rules, one can rent a Home Week reservation from another owner. It is not within the rules to rent any other reservation fro owners, but it is done. AFAIK, there is no facility (within the rules or not) to actually rent points from another owner for booking your own reservation, though.

Cheers.

HGVC put a stop to transferring points from another HGVC member already.

As far as I know, other timeshare systems such DVC, Marriott DC, and WM has it written that points transfers between members are allowed, but in the case of WM, they decided they have authority to limit transfer to 2x the points of the owners involved

In case of HGVC, it's not written into owner handbook, so they don't have to allow it, and put a stop to it already.

Great3

It was my understanding that HGV had originally allowed you to transfer points to family members. I know they promoted that concept at a sales presentation one time.. Then the various Facebook groups started actively promoting that idea facilitating the rental of points. I am sure the phone volume of calls to make transfers sky rocketed and then they slammed the door on that.

I'm a new owner, 3,400 points, intending to do 2-3 weekday trips per year. I noticed that there are some great deals on RCI for last call. Would it make sense to borrow, splurge, and throw the balance into Hilton Honors, if every other year we focused on last minute RCI deals?

converting Your points to HH should be a very last resort as it’s a very poor use of points. Hilton have devalued HH over the years and you won’t get as many nights as you will with a regular HGV booking.

remember if you book RCI there might be a resort fee if you book a HGV hotel. You need to pay it even as a member. On top there is the exchange fee which is $209-$239 for 7 nights.

Did you buy new or resale?

Resale.

We're not interested in exchanging points on RCI, just last call deals. Another idea is to borrow ahead and wait till we're low on points, before switching strategies.

The Hilton Honor transfer does look terrible. We earn plenty of hotel points with the Hilton Aspire, and American Express points anyways.

Sometimes it can be a great deal to exchange points in RCI, you just have to decide based on the location. Orlando for instance is overbuilt so it's easy to get last calls, but you won't find NYC in last calls. I've booked a weekday stay at W57th using RCI with points. I have a Napa CA booking coming up in Sep using points, you won't find Vino Bello in last calls, and it was very cost effective.

Not to worry, I don't think HH transfer is an option with resale.

Incorrect. Resale does not limit the ability to do this.

Cheers.
Thanks. Good to know. My Hyatt units don't allow that but my HICV does.

Just note that there are restrictions on this conversion (applies to both resale/direct the same)

From the club rules:

Hilton Honors Conversion for Following Year Use. Prior to 11:59 p.m. ET on December 31 of the current year, Members may convert
any or all of the next year’s allotment of ClubPoints into Hilton Honors Points at the current ratio of one ClubPoint to 25 Hilton Honors Points for a fee. For example, 5,000 ClubPoints = 125,000 Hilton Honors Points. The converted Points will be deposited into the Member’s Hilton Honors account the first week of January of the following year.
Members converting the entire annual allotment of ClubPoints attributable to their Home Week at the below listed resorts receive an increased conversion rate of one to 50. Conversions for less than the entire allotment may be made at the standard rate of one to 25.
• West 57th Street by Hilton Club
• The Residences by Hilton Club
• The Central at 5th by Hilton Club
• Bay Forrest Odawara by Hilton Club
• Liberty Place Charleston by Hilton Club
• The District by Hilton Club
• The Quin Central Park by Hilton Club
• Owners of penthouse units at Grand Waikikian by Hilton Grand Vacations Club, Bay Forest Odawara by Hilton Club and The Grand Islander by Hilton Grand Vacations Club
Increased conversion rates may be offered to Owners at select resorts or in connection with special promotions from time to time.
Once ClubPoints are converted to Hilton Honors Points, the transaction is final

Of the systems I know about, HGVC seems to (for the moment) have the fewest restrictions on resales. Basically none except for the Elite status. And there are even workarounds for that.

Cheers.

When did this happen? I can no longer share points with my sister (she's an HGVC owner as well but I have more points)?

Does La Pacifica in Los Cabos have the higher HHonors rate? IIRC, it's a Hilton Club property.

I saw it reported on Facebook a few months ago. I had also used that feature to transfer some points to a friend.

Certainly possible because I posted the rules from 2021 because that is all I had on my iPhone.
