I am trying to book a week in Hawaii and is a little short of RCI Points (even with extend or borrow). It seems renting RCI points from RCI is possible, as it says like this

but I was simply denied "Unfortunately, you do not have sufficient Points to exchange for this vacation. Please select a different unit.". Curious if anyone has experience in renting more points to complete a transaction this way.

How do I Rent Points?

Once you’ve chosen your Exchange Vacation on RCI.com, as you check out you will be prompted to either Rent or Borrow Points to make up any shortfall. Similarly, if you call RCI, simply tell your vacation guide that you’d like to Rent Points to complete your vacation booking. You can rent up to 50% of your annual Points allocation to complete a transaction.*

How many points do you get a year and how many are you trying to borrow? To clarify, this is for a rci points account,it is from the grandview?

Yes. I could combine two years for 122k, a little short of 135k but actually I could book a week later for just 115k so I will go that way. But still curious how people solve the shortfall problem in general. RCI seems to offer such flexibility but not available to me in this case.

Did you try calling RCI or using their online chat support?

Yeah will try if I have to get that specific week. Now I’m ok with a week later but kinda still curious if it’s doable.

You should be able to rent up to 50% of your annual allotment. At $0.03 per point it usually is fairly expensive unless you only need under 2000 or so points. Did you scroll down through all the options. Maybe it didn't like that you were borrowing and renting for the same transaction.

You can also rent from an owner for less than $0.03/point. Unless they have changed the rules.

It goes to “Unfortunately” page directly. If I book a lesser week, it does go to the page which allows me to extend or borrow. Yeah a bit weird it didn’t let me buy points at 0.03.
