Arrived yesterday for our first time at Massanutten.
Anyone else here?

1. The earlier email indicating that check-in for Regal Vistas wasn't until 6pm didn't stop them from checking us in at 3pm. So, it never hurts to ask. We were not assigned the unit that was actually exchanged.

2. The units are really "really" nice, as previously discussed. Everything in our unit was still in prime condition. Love the gas fireplaces and ceiling fans and the garage.

3. I like that the Regal Vistas neighborhood is on reasonably flat ground, with occasional easy hills. A great area for exercise walking.

4. Most units have a reasonable view, front/back, as the east/west streets are tiered towards the mountain. There is just one series of units that back up to a back retaining wall, due to a ridge.

5. There is still new construction going on, down near the neighborhood's fitness center / pool. Looks like about 10-15 more units going in.

6. The only aspect I don't like about the units is the 'privacy' versus 'natural light'. You either have the windows covered with really thick drapes or have them completely open. Sheer curtains would have been nice.

7. Looking forward to a week of lazy sightseeing. DH is off somewhere. I wanted a nap.

A few in S and VA, a single resort in NC, MD, PA, and UT, plus Jamaica and the Bahamas
Have a great time. We were there last year about this time. You probably missed peak leaves by about 2-3 weeks. We opted for a little earlier this year (mid September) because they stop the scenic chair lift and close some of the hiking trails mid October. Hopefully it will stay on the warmer side for your week.

DH has done the winery tour and the bear tour. He recommends the wine tour.

Yes, the hiking trails are now closed, due to hunting season and the chair lifts are closed. Leaf Peeping we have in Maine, so that wasn't drawing us.

Will definitely try to come back in the future.

Just returned from there this past Friday. It was beautiful as always. We did discover a new restaurant in Staunton. The Mill Street Grill. If you want an awesome meal, go there. For smaller portions at an easier price go during the week and catch the "early bird specials".

Yesterday, was my day to chose.

We took a back road (via GPS) down to Waynesboro and visited the Pat Buckley Moss gallery. I had warned my husband I would probably buy something. Found a smaller version of one painting I was interested in for $100.

Then we drove up to Harrisonburg via I-64 and I-81, and visited the Quilt Museum. Interesting exhibits and quilts.

The ladies at the museum recommended Clementine's for lunch, which was just two blocks down the street. Great food and cute atmosphere!

Then we went to the Rockingham County Heritage Center, south of town, in Dayton. But I struck out on my genealogical quest.

Then we stopped at the Ford dealer as the Escape's A/C is on the fritz and the area is having a "warm" spell! Darn! DH has to drive back today for the diagnosis.

We grocery shopped on Monday at the Food Lion in Elkton and that worked well. Noticed a Chinese restaurant in the same plaza which we might try later in the week.
