Anyone have any idea where you can get these hats besides the internet? My 91 yr old mother is in an independent living facility and they go out to eat monthly with their red hats. She just went there to live and wants a red hat but it has to be something she can try on before we purchase. Any chain stores sell this merchandise? TIA Linda

In CA I see them everywhere - especially gift stores. They are just red hats, they don't have to be any particular style.

I've seen some at Wal-Mart.

Hallmark might have a section of items related to the Red Hat Society.

You might try a department store. The hats might not necessarily be in the hat section of the store, sometimes stores will group everything together as a little shop in the area. Give the department stores at your local mall a ring.

I got my favorite frou-frou hat from Wal-mart. You gotta keep looking, cause they come and go. I got a cowboy-style straw one at K-mart. You might also find hats at small gift and boutique type stores, but they will be more expensive. I also found a red boa (knitted out of fuzzy yarn) at K-mart. Your mom needs a bright purple blouse or dress if she doesn't have one, too.

I see a lot of baseball-type caps and visors this time of year, if you are "crafty" you could decorate one, too.

Red Hat Ladies is a lot of fun!

Branson shows get sizeable groups of Red-hatters.

Our local large flea market has several stores with a wide variety of Red Hat clothes, hats, boa's and jewelry. But maybe it's because it's manager is "my" Red Hat Queen. But I've seen Red Hat stuff at Outlets too. Many of our group wear just 'scrunchees"....those bow like things you can wear in your hair. Our "Queen Mom" makes up various feather clip ons to put in your hair (my hair is too short to hold those). Some where decorated baseball caps and a couple wear red sun visors that have 'bling' on them..or other things. If I find her email address I'll post it for you. I have the cowboy type, like Fern mentioned, and a couple of 'fedora' types with rhinestones on them.

If it's her birthday month...then she wears a purple hat and red clothes...or some variation of that.

Thanks everyone for the info. JoAnn I would love the email address if you can locate it. However,my Mom hates purple so will never wear anything purple no matter what. Linda

Linda,
Our group is very casual, and we have one lady who wears red all the time, so she might be comfortable that way.

You should find a chapter and join too. Its a lot of fun. You should see the joy we bring to others when we go to look at the displays at the Bellagio a couple times a year.

Fern

You're just trying to make me feel bad now. We don't have a Cracker Barrel. The nearest one is Kingman, AZ. Just a tad too far for lunch.

Fern

In the past, I've seen Red Hat things at Cracker Barrel.

I don't have the flea market shops email address or website and our Queen Mom has a very bad cold, but I'll call her later today to get the information.

I talked to our 'queen mom' last night who manages the shop in the local flea market that sells a lot of Red Hat clothes and jewelry and other 'stuff' and she said they don't have a website now, but she gave me the number of the shop that I am willing to send to anyone interested. She said she would help anyone out via phone. I just don't want to publish that number.

If she won't wear purple, try white with either a purple boa or a red boa. There is a huge variety of outfits at any of our functions.
