We are looking at buying a timeshare in Vail - anyone have suggestions - best ones? How are the Marriotts? We currently own 2 weeks at Shadow Ridge, Palm Desert. We want to buy a ski week. Anyone heard about Vantage Point? I like that its close to the Gondola.
Also, where can I check out timeshare values? How do I know I'm getting a decent price? Where's the best place online to buy timeshares? Yep - I'm new at this!!!! Thanks for your help. C:whoopie:

You should start by searching this forum and the Buying, Selling, Renting forum for Vail (and maybe Avon). I would be surprised if you can come up with a question that hasn't already been asked and answered, and you will probably run across a lot that you never thought of.

Edited to add: Except for the question you asked about Vantage Point. I can not find any old posts about this resort.

Looks like you live in Denver. If so, I would gather a list of Timeshare names and addresses and spend two days and one night in Vail. Scout the area, talk to people and see for yourself.

Once you find the one (or two) you like, then start looking to see where to get the best deal RESALE.

I'd also suggest that you join TUG and get access to the member reviews of the various TS's in Vail. From what I've seen, there aren't a lot of good ones in Vail. Also, be sure to inquire about any special assessments that are currently being done or might be done in the future. A couple of the Vail TS's are undergoing renovation and have some pretty big special assessments that I would stay away from. We were in Vail last summer (2006) for a couple days and looked at several of the TS's there from the outside, and none were very impressive. Vantage Point is very well located in Vail Village or Lions Head but the TUG reviews on it aren't very good and it didn't look very good from the outside. There are some very high end ones (and very expensive) in Beaver Creek and some pretty good ones in Avon.
