Hi all,
My wife and I will be spending four nights in Barcelona at the end of a cruise in August. We are Titanium Elite and looking for a Luxury or Premium class hotel. Ideally we will be able to walk to most of the central attractions - La Sagrada Familia, Las Ramblas, Picasso Museum, etc. - and looking for a comfortable place to crash after 12 nights on a boat.
Thanks.

We enjoyed staying at the Renaissance Hotel. They had a wonderful breakfast and we could walk or take the Hop on Hop off bus to attractions. The Sagrada Famillia you need to book tickets weeks in advance.

We really enjoyed the Cotton House Hotel. Staff was very attentive, roof top swimming pool and very eclectic with a library consisting of various nooks and crannies. Nice staircase too. They gave the breakfast benefit which os fantastic too be enjoyed inside the restaurant or outside in a private patio/courtyard area. The breakfast is great.

We did the complete Gaudi (https://www.takewalks.com/barcelona-tours/la-sagrada-familia-tours/). It was great and we were able to walk back to the hotel from the last stop which was La Sagrada Familia. The only downside was that you have time and access with tour guide everywhere except you do not enter Casa Mila. You can however buy a seperate ticket on another day. We did a segway tour of the waterfront and surrounding area which was e real experience. I recommend Devour Tours because although slightly higher priced than other companies we felt we got our moneys worth.

We also used an app called 'withlocals' which turned out great to have a local tour guide show you around and recommend their favorite 'local' eateries

Good luck you will have a great time. It is a pity you cannot stay 5 nights and use the 'fifth night free' on points promotion.

Hotel Le Meridien Could not recommend it more for location!!!!!!!

Highly recommend Cotton House, fabulous historic property, walkable to so many things including Las Ramblas and the Picasso Museum (one of my favorite attractions) as well as an easy cab rides to La Sagrada familia and Parc Guell. Wonderful staff. As titanium elite you will get breakfast there every day, which was so yummy.

We weren't crazy about the Marriott options in Barcelona, we loved the economical Catalonia Magdalenes in the Gothic Quarter, better location than any of the Marriotts, and very new.

Is Las Ramblas noisy or quiet at night? I’ve read some reviews that suggest it might be a bit rambunctious.

It is very busy but not what we considered noisy or rambunctious. Also, as long as you are near a metro station you are 10 minutes from anything in Barcelona. Take the train out to Monserrat, we thought it was better than La Sagrada (but do that too.)

Thanks for the detailed reply and the advice about the Cotton House. I will check it out. Also thanks for the tips regarding tours and the Withlocals app. We could stretch to five nights, but we’re already planning to be away for three weeks as it is. We like traveling, but after a while we like going home again, too.

There was a lot of construction in Las Ramblas when I was there this past August. You could only walk single file on some sidewalks. I was glad I didn't stay there. So, might want to check on the construction there.

I second Le Meridien right on Las Ramblas. Close to shops, food with metro stop right there. Barcelona Cathedral os 2 blocks away. Get to Monserrat and a lot of sights easily. Plus after a cruise you need to wash clothes and there is a laundrymat a block behind the hotel. We have had rooms in the front facing Las Tamblas and on lower floor you might notice noise. If noise is a worry, ask for a higher room away from Las Ramblas. Cab to the port runs about 24 euros so central location. We walk to the shopping center and beach from hotel.

My favorite Marriott in BCN is the four points Sheraton. It's away from the tourist zone and that's why I like it. I only want a clean, quiet room and this works for me.

In recent years I've stayed at non-marriott hotels since others offer a much better value option as Marriott has increased rates and points.

I get to bcn once or twice a year. If this is your first trip, staying near the center makes sense.

For walkable sightseeing and comfort, Hotel Arts Barcelona is the top Marriott choice. It is luxury level, solid elite recognition, and close to the beach with easy taxi access to the center. If you want to be right in the city core, Le Méridien Barcelona on La Rambla is very convenient for walking to Gothic Quarter, Picasso Museum, and dining. The Cotton House Hotel is another strong option, quieter, premium feel, and well located near Plaça de Catalunya. For Titanium benefits and location, those three are the safest picks.
