Do people do this if BT inventory is available?

I booked an IS and BT is now open and inventory is still available. So price is no different. My brothers girlfriend just tested positive for Covid, so just to be on the safe side, I cancelled the IS booking which has a 10 day cancellation policy and rebooked for BT which has a 2 day cancellation policy. Just in case.

Is this a thing that people do regularly?

One thing I have learned over the last 6-8 years as a dual WorldMark and Club Wyndham owner is that when little gifts like this are advertised on social media, become overused and abused, the rules change and the gifts are taken away. Just sayin' ...

Only doing this because someone has COVID and BT is available. If BT was not available this wouldn't even be a consideration.

I think that is a excellent idea in your situation. I can’t see a reason to ever do that except in your situation. Better than having to cancel the trip. I have never had to to that exact thing. I have canceled a Monday Madness reservation and rebooked it as a Inventory Special to lower the cost.
