Hi Everyone -

I'm booking a week though RCI for my folks in August over in San Diego. I have a question, on the reservation. The fee listing talks about a daily parking fee of $42/day (see image).

Question: is this fee applied regardless of whether they have a car? My assumption is it should not apply if no car, but the wording suggests that maybe they will try to assess it regardless? They do not plan to have a car, hence my question.

I did call RCI and the rep said it didn't apply. But, looking at the wording, disclosure location ("Resort Fees") and everything in the screen shot... I'm just not so sure.

Does anyone have experience with something similar?

thanks in advance.

Looks like specifically Parking fee, NOT 'resort fee'.
+ RCI rep confirmed it
If it was posted as a generic 'resort fee' (includes parking + other BS amenities), then stuck with it but can't imagine them charging a parking fee, if no car to park...
May ask the resort directly, if Qs.
? Resort name, so folks may share their experience (some are notorious for junk fees)...

Maybe call the resort and ask? Write down the name of the person you speak with, the date and time in case someone wants to debate the charge when they arrive at the resort. I can say they didn’t charge the parking fee in Oahu unless you had a car, but that’s been a number of years ago when we were there.

Call the resort directly and ask.

thanks everyone. I should have included the resort to begin with, sorry about that.

It's more a hotel, not a resort:
Gaslamp Plaza

It's located downtown San Diego

Well, their website says the parking fee is actually $45 per day. Since it is specified as parking fee not resort fee, I will presume if you didn't have a car, there will be no parking fees.
I will still call to verify. I didn't see any resort fees on their website.

"Valet parking $45 per night with in/out privileges"

There is very limited parking at Gaslight and really most resorts in So Cal. That is probably a legitimate fee. Even Wyndham owners get charged parking fees in places like Austin, New Orleans and Avon, where parking is limited. You pay for the privilege of having a car, that's for sure.

@Chris-ATX , what did you find from the property?
