Pros and cons of RCI vs II for exchanges???

I have a 2-BR Lock-off at Sheraton Vistana Cascades in Orlando for Week 33.

I am only in the old Sheraton Vacation Club, which includes Cascades and Lakes in Orlando and the PGA Resort in Port St Lucie...
I can only vacation at those 3 resorts or deposit into an external exchange.

I am not in the newer Sheraton Flex Program or any other newer plan that gives me access to the additional Sheraton resorts.

I have not used RCI in years (used to use RCI a lot many years ago), and I have never used II.

In the past, I was an RCI Weeks member, and I could deposit my Lock-off as one 2-BR week or as two 1-BR weeks.
I do not know whether I can now be eligible for RCI Points or whether I could only do RCI Weeks.
I do not know how II treats my week for deposit.

When I view my “Exchange Company Details on the Vistana site, I see both II and RCI (although I am not currently subscribed), but I also see this and have no idea what it means: “Resort Assignment Code: VI2”.

Looking for advice on any/all of the above, along with which exchange company seems to be the best these days (price, trade values, inventory, etc, etc).

Thanks in advance!

Good Morning - IMO it isn't about which one is better now or which one is more cost effective, it is about which one offers what you are looking for.

Example: I have both RCI and II. RCI has more to offer in New England where we take a lot of trips. But, I prefer II for vacations outside of the area because I prefer branded resorts for big trips as they consistently have a standard of quality.

You should be able to lock-off your unit and deposit both halves with either company.

Also, just to note August in Orlando will not have great trading power with either company. Unless you get a preference with II for owning Sheraton......someone will need to chime in on that topic because I'm not familiar enough with it.

To help us answer this question for you, can you give us a couple of examples of locations and time of year you think you may want to use this deposit to travel?

. . . .

There is a preference in Interval for Vistana to Vistana trades. We routinely get Hawaii weeks (Maui, Princeville) in exchange for mediocre, shoulder season Vistana weeks. I agree that the RCI/II choice should depend on where you want to vacation, but the Vistana to Vistana preference is powerful.

if it were me, i would deposit your unit as a single deposit in II - diluting it by depositing both halfs as lock offs will diminish what you will be able to pull as a trade, Orlando is already a very weak trader - it will have the vistana 3 week (and to a lesser extent a marriott) preference where your deposit will see vistana and marriott units before they are released to the general public.

As an example I deposited a 2 Bed lock off Vistana Villages - Bella as one deposit and got a 2 bedroom Nanea deposit in exchange, which i consider to be a good exchange. Splitting that into two deposits would have got me basically like for like. So it depends on what you want in return - in this case, i needed a 2 bedroom for Hawaii.

II - better resorts and MVC preference and Vistana priority
