I have my favorite exchanges in RCI. I like Maui and I like Shearwater on Kauai. I like going to the Big Island every 2-3 years in summer, and RCI is my go-to for that. RCI has some decent ski locations for our kids, including Winter Park and of course Frisco and Breck.
When RCI went to the point system in weeks, I was thrilled because I received 101 or 102 points for my 3 bedrooms at Grand Palms. I deposited the unit as a 2 bed and a studio. I was a happy camper. Now I can still get decent trading power, but it's half of what it was. Now instead of about $5 per point, I am at $20 per point in weeks. That may sound great to a lot of people here, but RCI adjusted trading power down, while getting my favorite exchanges got more expensive. It's okay, it's just what it is.
II exchange fees Marriott/ Vistana to Marriott/ Vistana, $164. Every other exchange is $229. II has eplus retrades, which is great, better than insurance. RCI's insurance doesn't give me back my exchange fee of $289, just the exchange power comes back. I hesitate to take every exchange through RCI. The kids don't plan trips a whole year out, and I keep getting exchange matches in RCI for Anaheim during fall break of 2024, but not one kid will commit this early, and I don't blame them.
