Posting here because my ownership is Wyndham---but looking thru their 'last call' deals, and saw one in VA Beach for like (6) nights next month. We have a large wrestling tournament I'd like to book this for--BUT I don't need all (6) nights. Can I buy that reservation--and just not check-in until like the 4th night? Even forfeiting the (3) nights is cheaper than if I were paying direct, so thats why I'm interested in booking this way.

Of course, you can call the resort and ask that question.

But, as far as the way it usually works:

Some resorts might possibly maybe cancel a reservation if the person doesn't/people don't show up on the check-in day. Or the next day.

So, in order to prevent cancellation, you just tell the resort that you'll be checking in such-and-such date and they'll mark it in their computer system accordingly. No cancellation.

Call the resort, it's very different at each resort. Some places have check in ONLY on certain days, where you can leave early, but checking in especially that late may be problematic.

For instance, some resorts only have check in on Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun or Fri/Sat/Sun and the desk isn't even manned any other day. So it may be that if you are supposed to check in on Friday, they might be ok with a check-in on Sat or Sun, but not on Tuesday for instance because nobody's there.

Most all of these resorts in RCI are traditional "weeks" timeshares, so they are set up for check-in/out very differently than Wyndham where you can check in any day of the week.

we often do just that -never an issue (so far). For example, we book near ski locations but don't like to ski on weekends because it is so crowded. Many times during the winter on the east coast there may also be weather issues so we just give a call and say we can't check in on Sunday well be there tuesday...

We do this a lot too, I think the most we’ve done is two or maybe three days delayed check in. I just contact the resort directly and ask and it hasn’t been an issue. And checking out early is never an issue, of course. It is usually hard to beat that last call price, even if you just use a handful of the days!
