So I've been in the process of getting a Grandview week from the free timeshares forum to get RCI Points access. Previously I've only had the corporate RCI accounts via HGVC and Wyndham. I've also had an individual II account. But for an individual RCI account I have a few questions.

1) So the deed has transferred, and the grantor is asking me when I'm going to sign up with the RCI Points membership transfer application for the RCI account so they can start the transfer process. I thought I had to have some info from Grandview to then sign up for RCI but maybe I'm supposed to have them start a process to transfer a membership? Is this the right thing to do?

2) Is there a time limit or ability to bank points in RCI if I can't use them in a given year? I know I can do so from HGVC or Wyndham whenever with a fee, but for instance if I want to bank inside the system HGVC charges more the later in the year and Wyndham flat won't let you after 3 months in (as a basic resale owner).

1. If your purchase comes with some free points, you need to sign up for the membership to get receive it. If it comes with the RCI account itself, this would have been setup as part of the sale. You would have added the membership fee and the previous account will transfer to you.
If none of the above is applicable, I strongly encourage you to sign up immediately. There have been rumors of the units reverting to weeks when the points account is not set up as part of the transfer. Grandview loves this because they can charge you money to "convert" back to points. Of course if you don't want a points account, then don't bother setting up one.

2. If you do get a points account, the points are automatically added to your RCI account January 1. If you use some of the points (it doesn't matter how much), the remaining points automatically carry over to the next year for free.
If you don't use any of the points, then you can pay to extend.

You and the seller need to complete the MTA form, Membership Transfer Application. If you put your credit card info on the form and email the completed form, things will proceed much faster than if you mail it and pay by check.
