I have points expiring in August (they are points transferred from a resale account bought last year). Is there a deadline to extend? Also it shows not eligible to extend. Would upgrade to platinum help? TIA.

if says not eligible id assume theyd already been extended too many times
Platinum might provide a discount on fee

Platinum gets a 4th year without paying anymore but I am not sure it would work on points that were extended and then transferred to you. Do you have points that are eligible to extend? It is rare to have 3rd year banked points but not 2nd year points.

Here is the summary from RCI (to correct they expire Oct not Aug). It’s EOY Odd 61k. I believe the current 61k were originally from 2023 allocation. I also noticed that my membership expires the same time as current points on Oct 31, 2025. So curious if I need to extend the membership first so the points can extend.

Try booking something for Nov/Dec 2025. Don't actually book it. When you get to the point where it shows the points you are using see if there is an option to pay a fee and use the old points or if the only option is to use the 2025 points with no fee.
My suggestion is to use the points before Oct 2025, so you don't have to pay any fee to save them. I am not 100% clear that you have any saved points and the 61k isn't just what you can borrow. Try making an 62+k reservation now and see what it shows as points you can use. If you have saved points it will offer to use those and then borrow from next year and other than the exchange fee it should not show any additional fee to use points like that.

I tried to book one for 91k for current use year and it did give me option to borrow from future use year. I guess I do have 61k for 2024 use year. Yeah back to my original question, is there a deadline to do anything for 2024 use year points if not used. At least right now, I don't have an option to extend them. Can I wait till September to decide?

As long as you use some of the 61,000 points during this year, they will be automtically saved to next year and you don't have to do anything. If you don't use any of the the points there is a saving fee. I believe it is $36. It is still autosaved but the $36 is added to your account and you will have to pay it at the same time you make a reservation . If you use this years points in your next use year before the Oct 31 deadline that also counts and would get you out of the $36 saving fee. At the end of the second year if there are still 2024 points left (which you only have because of the transfer and normally you wouldn't be getting points on your off year), you have to pay to extend the points and that would apply whether you wait until the end of the use year or if you are trying to use 2024 point in 2026/27 (after Nov 1 for your use year) The extend fee for the 2nd year is much higher ($109-$159) than the saving fee from year 1 into year 2.

Thanks. It's helpful. I also did a test booking for 2025 use year and it tells me this. I have a feeling that my transferred points (current 61k) is treated as 1st points and not sure if would be saved automatically to 2025 if not used.

You can do a 3rd test by trying to book Dec 2026 and see what comes up. I have a feeling that to use 2024 in 2026, it will want the extend fee.

Good suggestion. Unfortunately for Dec 2026 booking, it says "Unfortunately, you do not have sufficient Points to exchange for this vacation. Please select a different unit."
