RCI is still messing up confirmation letters.

It's REALLY frustrating when I order a guest certificate at $59, and RCI doesn't mail the confirmation letter. They offer to fax the letter when I call, but making excuses for RCI with my friend is embarrassing
I've been frustrated this past year that I haven't been getting confirmation letters for my vacations. We take multiple trips each year, and we store those confirmations in a 3-ring binder.
They get $169/week out of us just for the exchange. You'd think the confirmation letter would be at the top of their list for customer service. It is afterall, a direct reflection of their service quality.

I have noticed the same on my RCI online transactions.
I suspect they figure online customers can just print the confirmation or forward it to their guests themselfs saving RCI money in reduced mailing costs.
online guest certificate purchase has the option to email the confirmation to the guest.

The confirmation for an exchange I made 10/2 has not arrived by mail yet. Of course I have printed one online, but with all the screwups and cancelled exchanges and so forth, it makes you feel shaky.

I can see the confimed exchange in our account online.

I contacted feedback and they said everything is Okey Dokey and they will mail the confimation.

What do you expect when they still use that huge run of upside-down printed envelopes?

It appears that nothing has changed. Had the same problem several years ago. I would call and be told that they would mail a guest certificate to my brother. Nothing happened. Called again. Nothing. Yadayadayada...

I did notice that they put my brother's name on the online confirmation. (I'm not talking about a guest certificate here, the actual confirmation.) I called the resort and they said that was all they needed.

While the problem was solved, I'm still annoyed at being told that something would be mailed out (and told that something would be mailed out... and told that ...)

You would think that RCI would learn. All that this does is create a hostile a attitude toward them.

Yep--I had to call several times for a confirmation letter for a unit that I confirmed back in September. Finally got it last week.

It's very frustrating, especially since I am a Fairfield owner. You can't see all of your Fairfield reservations online--those that you make through a VC just don't show. Ever. When you don't get a confirmation, it is very very easy to "lose" track.

My friend isn't even familiar with timesharing or RCI. I keep asking if she's received her confirmation. When you drive 10 hours to a destination, it's nice to have the comfort of a confirmation letter from the company-- RCI. My friend knows nothing about RCI... she and her guests just know they aren't very accountable.

It was a Fairfield that I booked yesterday. Saw it online and could have booked it online.

I had some questions so booked it through a Guide. I stayed online to see that the correct week disappeared and to make sure the exchange appeared before I got off the phone with the Guide.

Then I printed the Exchange Confirmation from our account online.

I do get uneasy when I know what's going on but maybe they don't.

We're not Fairfield owners.

You have every reason to be disgusted. Just don't shoot yourself in the foot (or, more accurately, your friends in their feet). If the confirmation on line now has their name on it, print it out and give it to them. Or, if there is a guest certificate on line, print it out. Your first priority is make sure they get let in and have a good time.

JLB--for a Fairfield owner, you get two types of RCI weeks that can be exchanged. One is called a "visible" deposit, which allows you to search and book online. These have become increasingly difficult to obtain. When you have one, it works just like an ordinary week where you can search and confirm online and have a record of your transaction that can be printed out.

Then there's the second type of RCI/FF week--the "generic" deposit whereby Fairfield gives RCI an amount of points equal to a certain size/season of unit. For example, 28k points is equal to a "quiet season" studio unit. These deposits show up in your RCI account in the same block as one-plus-one weeks. They cannot be used for online searches and booking. You must call RCI's Fairfield desk to see if one of those weeks can pull what you're looking for. If you can get what you want, the generic week disappears from your RCI account but there is no record online of what you got for it. You cannot print out a copy or confirmation--you have to depend on RCI to snail-mail it to you.

It is quite frustrating to not be able to search online with all deposits. It's even more frustrating when you do get a week confirmed but don't get anything at all to show what you have. Earlier this year I reserved two units with generic deposits. It took almost 3 months to get the confirmations (after repeated requests) and when I did, one was wrong! They had one unit checking in on a Friday and one on a Saturday when they had both been specifically scheduled for the same day, who knows what the heck happened. At the time I had made the reservation there was ample availability at our chosen resort, but by the time I got the confirmation there was zero left for our date. Fortunately, RCI acknowledged the error and worked with me on it and we did eventually get the second week we had originally booked but we did have to sweat it out for a while. That stress could have been easily avoided if our transaction had showed up online--we would have seen the mistake immediately. Also, it would have been a big help if it hadn't taken 10 weeks to get the confirmation!

Why on earth RCI and Fairfield think it's a good idea to make these generic transacations so invisible is beyond me. I do really like the FF system but it has a major downside by making so many owners "blind" transaction-wise. And if they are going to do this, they should at least be prompt with snail-mailed confirmations.

We're having the same problem. Confirmed a resort about 2 months ago. Printed out the online confirmation but when I called RCI about something else I asked if that was all I needed and they said "we mailed you a confirmation". Huh? Must be on a slow boat to China and back. They said they would send me a duplicate. Of course that was 3 weeks ago and nothing. It makes me nervous to not have to official mailed one but I'm wondering if I'll ever see one.

The online confirmation you printout is just as good as the one RCI mails you.
Its nothing more than a printed record from RCI that you have a confirmed exchange.
I feel much better being able to look at my RCI account online and see what is confirmed and printout my confirmations. Its all computer generated anyways and having access to your account online puts the power in your hands to keep tabs on It.

I have not even had to present a confirmation when checking in at a resort for many years now. The resort normally just needs the last name of the person on the reservation to pull it up in their computer system.
If I have family members or friends checking in befor I arrive I call the resort and explain the situation and ask if they could possibly add the persons name to the reservation and have never had a problem yet.
I find it best whenever possible to do things for myself rather than trust middlemen in big corporations to do them for me.
I find it easy to pickup the phone and call the resort and make a personal contact with a real person who has the power to confirm your reservation is in their resort computer.

I happen to be one of those Fairfield people who made an exchange with a generic deposit. That was October 7th and still no confirmation. I can not see it on line so I can't print it out. I have called about not receiving a confirmation and was told that I do have the unit and they would send me another confirmation. (our address hasn't changed in 15 years) I never had trouble getting confimations in the past but now after a month and two additional calls I think I should have received one. Our travel date is March. I like to keep the confirmations in a binder and I don't like to wait until the last minute to receive the confirmations. I've emailed RCI and they have failed to respond even with a generic message to address my complaint. Funny, they had no problem charging my credit card. If only all the departments and workings of RCI could be that efficient! I pray this doesn't linger too much longer.

A friend of mine in a similar position had a temper tantrm on the phone with a supervisor and got them to fax the confirmation to her office.

Worth a try...

The last two vacations we took, I looked in our binder for the confirmation letter the day of our trip. We never recieved one. Like others here, I derive a certain amount of security and satisfaction from my on-line reservation listed in my account. However, on the day of your trip, you are not able to print out a confirmation letter. So, we wrote down the phone number of the resort and called them for directions when we got close. And, we wrote down the confirmation number.
We shouldn't have to do this. When making a business transaction, you should be entitled to a receipt, and you shouldn't have to print it yourself.

We still have not received Exchange Comfirmations through the mail for exchanges confirmed 10/2 and 11/9. For now I am going with the ones I printed at our account online.

On them it does say, "Upon arrival at the resort, please present this confirmation along with the proper identification."

But, it is more comforting to get the one in the mail, since RCI is not always on the same page, and sooner is better than later to get that cleared up.

But, today we did receive the replacement membership cards "you requested," which we did not. I was assuming it was going to be one of the confirmations.

Also today we received the title policy for a real estate transaction we closed in June. I had called yesterday to find out where it was. As I just emailed to the other party in the transaction, who also had not received theirs, in every organization there is one person, and perhaps only one person, who gets their tasks done.

Perhaps the penalties for not performing your work are not as severe as they used to be.

They offered to fax me mine...No problem.

But still ridiculous that I had to call and ask for it.
