Dose anyone have experience with buying extra vacation from RCI website and the sale never get fulfilled?

I mean I found an extra week vacation for $399 can paid for it with my PayPal. I received a email from PayPal saying, "Thanks for your order at Wyndham Destinations, Inc.. Money won't leave your account until Wyndham Destinations, Inc. processes your order."

And then I never heard of anything after that. A days later I checked my PayPal and the transection disappeared like nothing ever happened.

So what is going on?

Thank you for sharing!

I didn't think of using PayPal for RCI reservations, online or otherwise.

I just pay for RCI extra vacations, bonus weeks, last calls, & straight exchange reservations via SouthWest Rewards Visa Card so I'll get more reward points good for free airplane tickets.

I see @Sanwang is one of us now. Welcome to timesharing 101. Yes, another lesson is that using a credit card for RCI (or other) reservations. Like rental cars, hotel rooms, flights, cruises, etc. It gives you leverage. Once you make a charge on PayPal, it's just a negotiation between you and PayPal if there's a dispute. I'm not experienced with Extra Vacations. I get more than I can use just in my Weeks and Points accounts.

Good Luck! Maybe your reservation won't be processed until it's confirmed.

If you don't mind can I ask have you actually used the extra vacations and if so was it a good experience?
I have what I recently learned to be an RCI Cooperate account through DVC, I knew we had access to some properties if we deposit our points but no one seems to say much good on the extra vacations.

The reason I am asking is I have upcoming appointment and the $399 last call week @ Vacation Village Bonaventure deal seems far less expensive than actually staying in a a vs $220 a night local hotel...are they really as bad as people say - extra fees units no won would reserve anyway?

I recently purchased an extra vacation for $359 for Summit Resort in Sedona, AZ for a week in January. It’s a one bedroom and we have stayed here multiple times ( you just have to say NO to their sale presentations, and you might have to repeat the NO). I prefer Interval as an exchange company, but every now and then, RCI comes through so I renew my membership.

You will need to look at your RCI account. Look in the Trips section. If nothing is there, call and tell them the day you attempted to purchase the Extra Vacation, the resort name, check in date, etc.
I don't know what happened, but I would use a credit card in the future. There is no advantage to using PayPal.

You will likely be very happy - "more bigger room" for a cost of $57 per night.

VV Bonaventure is a recognized name brand property that is not beachfront and November is not yet peak snowbird season.

Vacation Villages agreement with RCI may require a certain number of developer monthly deposits & therefore some off season weeks may go to last call.etc.

If you see a resort on "last call" - and don't recognize the name - the RCI review link is to Trip Advisor.

One of the best & funniest RCI / Trp Advisor reviews I have read was for a Hotel TS property in Acapulco MX .
It went something like this:

" This property is for Europeans who are used to 1 & 2 star hotels , and Mexicans ......
......It is a historic property where Frank Sinatra stayed in the 1950's and you can see the nearby cliff divers from your balcony. Most of the staff DOES NOT speak English , (although some do) . I loved my stay there as a Mexican- American who knew the history of the location. I would not recommend it to many of my (gringo) friends in Los Angeles , who would complain that the elevator did not work for most of their stay.

I happen to own at VV@Bonaventure and have sent friends there. They loved it. They were very happy with the room (clean and in good condition) and the grounds. In fact Bonaventure was going through some refurbishments over the last couple of years. Bonaventure also shares some amenities with a sister resort VV@Weston.

I've also purchased a couple of Extra Vacation weeks. Was never disappointed. But they were also off or shoulder season. That's the main reason why they are so cheap.

Thanks all- @T-Dot-Traveller exactly what I was thinking @rboesl I am looking forward to giving it a shot my last trip down had me in a clean but tiny Hampton inn VVBonaventure sure seems to have a better pool ;) considering I am traveling shoulder season anyway and for a dental appointment no-less it seems the way to go...

if you like to and can travel on shoulder season "the world is your oyster" for sure.. lots of good deal and don't forget the rental forums on tug as well..

and alway use a CREDIT card to pay vs paypal, etc or debit cards. the CC offers protection paypal or debit does not have. Plus if the place, person only wants paypal or debit card, and worse like the apple gift cards,, then you know it a SCAM.. the CC will protect you from that.

Strange, I have purchased a good amount of RCI Extra Vacations (pretty much what I use RCI for) and have never had this happen. I'm curious that the email came from "Wyndham Destinations" I don't recall I having seem them listed, but it honestly don't pay much attention. But, it makes we wonder, are you SURE you purchased this on the RCI website? As in you went to RCI directly and not via any link you saw or received?

I also didn't realize paypal could be used, when I just started a dummy purchase of an EV, I can see the paypal option was to spread the cost over a few months. I wonder if your trip would have fell outside of that window. Honestly it is a mystery to me why it didn't complete. Is it still available? try again and use a CC.

Please let us know what you think of Bonaventure. AND, don't forget to do a review. :)
