I just received a call from someone claiming to represent RCI Extra Vacations Getaway. He stated that I currently had 4 weeks credited to my RCI account, since I have been regularly paying my Wyndham maintenance fees. Two of the credited weeks were about to expire and he wanted to rent them for me. I would receive $1,800 per week in 60-120 days.
I told him that I had no idea what he was talking about r.e. the credited 4 weeks, and I was waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Finally I got out of him that he needed a $400 per week guesting fee now or $800 for 2 weeks or $1,600 for the 4 weeks. However, he would give me a deal of $1,495 for the 4 week guesting fees. He guaranteed that I would get $7,200 in 60-120 days.
He gave me the following URL www.rci.com/weeksev/ which got me into what appeared to be a legitimate web site for RCI. He said that he worked for the company that does all of the actual sales of RCI weeks to prospective buyers, and that they needed the weeks to get more potential buyers.
He appeared to know way too much about me. When I said that I was not interested in paying him anything up front he said "Well you have these two credit cards, one from RCI with low a interest rate that you could use."
At that point I say, no buy, good bye, and ended the conversation.
Is there a TUG link that deals with this, or has anyone else had a call and dealt with this organization?
