I'm in the process of buying an EOY week that begins next year. However, depending on when closing is complete, I'm not sure I can use it next year. Is it possible to exchange it for a week in 2010? I can deposit Hilton points in RCI for use up to two years in the future, but I don't know how depositing weeks works.

EOY

We have an EOY in Branson (weeks) and have had no problem depositing with RCI the year it is available to us. We usually pay our maintainance fee a year ahead of time so we can deposit it in advance.

Deposit A Week, Exchange It Within 3 Years.

In July 2008 I deposited my August 2009 timeshare week. According to RCI, my travel dates for exchanging that week are August 2008 through August 2011.

Last month, I deposited my August 2010 timeshare week. My travel dates for exchanging that are August 2009 through August 2012.

I'm a bit confused about the question. Are you saying that the week is in 2009, and won't close before the check-in date? In that case, you have a problem which you'll have to work with the seller to resolve.

If you are saying the week is in 2009 and will close well before check-in, but you might not want to use it next year, no problem. You can deposit it and it will be good until 2011. The fact that it is EOY really has no bearing on when you can use it. You can use a deposited week starting a year before check-in (or when you deposit it, whichever comes later), and up to two years after check-in.

JudyS, It's a 2009 week, but I don't know when it will close. I'm buying from a postcard company, which refuses to book a week for me and won't give me contact info for the owner so he can. (I did get the owner's name to check it out with the property.) If it doesn't close early in the year (and I've read plenty of reports here of Wyndham taking forever to process paperwork), I doubt I'll be able to book a week that fits my schedule. Besides, if I can push booking to 2010, that would work better for me and would be worth joining RCI for a year to do so.

The key part of your question is "I can deposit Hilton points in RCI " So we talking HGVC, correct?

If you're talking HGVC, then you don't deposit anythink at all because as a HGVC owner, you don't have a RCI account. You have a HGVC corporate RCI account. HGVC does all the depositing and reserving with RCI. So you can wait till Dec 31, 2009 to deposit your HGVC pts with RCI and still have the same trading power as any other HGVC -RCI week.

No, that's just an aside. The new TS is Pahio Kauai Beach Villas (bought for $3). I didn't know if depositing other brands in RCI worked the same as doing so with Hilton. I know I'll have to pay for a separate RCI account if I go this route.

Just trying to think ahead about my options.
