Not sure what this is exactly. RCI lists it without any explanation. Does it mean one exchange allowed every 4 years?

Policy Restrictions :
  • 1 in 4 rule applies.

Yes, that's exactly what it means.

Fortunately there are 3 more Hilton timeshares at Waikoloa, Kohala, King's Land, and Ocean Tower so you could rotate around to the other properties.

Bay Club is the only one without the daily resort fee, and Ocean Tower is the only one without free parking. All of them have the Hawaii occupancy tax.

Thanks. Is RCI smart enough to stop you when you attempt it in 3 and half years? I mean who can remember all these stupid rules!

Yes. It is implemented on the site—or at least it was last I checked. It may not be applied retroactively though, and I don’t think Bay Club has always had that.

I see. I suppose as long as I can book, RCI or Bay Club should honor it. I just don’t want to remember these made-up rules or risk of cancellation.

That's not true.
Under the TUG Exchange Forum. folks have reported RCI cancellations after booking. I've attached one example below.
If you don't have access to your RCI exchange history and don't want to run the risk of a cancellation then I suggest calling RCI to double check.

Ok I vaguely remembered someone had similar experience with Vidanta 1 in 3 rule. The worst would be they cancel only when you arrive there!

Not sure if this this applies with bay but vidanta said their rule was applied by source of booking. So if you booked via RCI and want to go back use SFX next time. Or thirdhome.

If call to confirm that will work in Hawaii bc that's not a place I'd want to be stuck looking for last minute lodging

My recollection is that RCI allows concurrent or consecutive reservations without triggering a 1 in 4 or a 1 in 3 issue?

Yes, it was nicely documented in this old thread.

This 1 in X rule always seemed kinda crazy to me. And I wonder if it's by RCI account or if they go by government ID? The only reason I comment this is through little fault of my own, I'll soon have 3 RCI accounts, one via HGVC, one via Wyndham, and one stand alone one.

Good
Would have been tough showing up with three families next month and then having to share just one reservation

Generally it's by RCI Account.

Over the years, folks have shared various exceptions: different exchange companies, different RCI accounts, RCI Points inventory and RCI Extra Vacations.
Here are a few discussions from the TUG Exchange forum....

So it’s the resorts who don’t want repeat exchangers, not RCI. But I still blame RCI if anything happens. We paid the exchange fees for them to do it right!

I’m curious if there were any stories of exchangers who got rejected by the resorts on the check-in and what happened to them (does it help to call RCI?)
