RCI exchange fee for NYC?

I was just looking at a unit in NYC for next month. Sounded good, but then I saw the exchange fee was $1599!!!! What the heck? Why would it be that high?

That wasn't a timeshare exchange. RCI has exchange plus which is basically a discount off of the extra vacation rental price using points or trading power into hotel inventory. Exchange plus ranges from $399 to $1599.

Those exchange plus are very expensive. You will see that silver key as a clue that it's not a regular exchange.

I was excited to see Great Wolf Lodge as exchange + because the one in Colorado Springs is minutes from our daughter's house. They love to go there for a weekend, but no weekends available through exchange plus, and after buying the exchange, the price is less for weeknights booked directly with the hotel. Not a good value.
