RCI Enhanced Points Protection - has anyone used it?

Background - we have one week reservation in RCI weeks that we're thinking of cancelling. During an online chat the rep told me that they have Enhanced Points protection (he mentioned PPRO, not sure what it is and I didn't ask) which returns your TPUs (yes it's applicable to weeks, not just points). And for a limited time, RCI is also allowing a credit of reservation fee to be used by June 30, 2022.

Has anyone used this?

If so, is there a catch or something we need to be careful about?

Thanks!

I used it last year. I had to cancel a "weeks-based RCI Exchange". I added the "protection", which at the time. also included a credit for the exchange fee. It worked exactly as advertised.
I have WorldMark, so we don't use "TPU", but all my WM points were "banked in RCI" and eligible for use on an exchange for this year.

They have been offering the enhanced trading protection on and off (mostly on from Sept 2020-April 2021) then sporadically as covid spiked in later 2021 and now. At one point the enhanced protection covered the whole exchange fee. There were also times when it covered half of the exchange fee. It looks like it currently covers all of the exchange fee. It does not extend the expiration of your deposit

Learn more about Trading Power Protection.

  • Cancel your vacation at ANY time before check-in for ANY reason, and all the Deposit Trading Power you used for that Exchange vacation will be refunded to your account.
  • For a limited time, RCI is pleased to offer enhanced Trading Power Protection that now covers your exchange fee. Purchase the Enhanced Protection before January 31, 2022 and if you are unable to travel you'll receive an Exchange Fee coupon for a future exchange, valid for rebooking through June 30, 2022. Trading Power Protection is not insurance. Exchange Fee Protection is not available for Exchange Plus bookings where the price is above $259

We just cancelled a reservation last week. It was painless and gave back the points instantly. I cancelled just 48 hours before check-in. I think we might be out the exchange fee, though. Maybe it was not the 'Enhanced' version. Dunno.

It is painless to use except for paying for the coverage. It has worked well for me.
