I have had this happen a few times when recently engaging with RCI representatives both on the phone and using chat. As an informed user, you know how something works, but the CSR insists that what they are telling you is correct.

Me (2:11:13 PM):I should get 25 TPU through deposit restore with my platinum account, right?
Alexis K. (2:12:33 PM):I show you got the maximum and the maximum was 24. You will receive an email once the week gets verified!
Me (2:13:16 PM):hmmm. okay. It showed 25 as the max when I looked it up but it was reduced to 24 based on timing.
Alexis K. (2:15:32 PM):The amount of trading power you received was calculated by your resort after depositing the week.
Me (2:16:31 PM):I think in the past it may have been lower while "pending verification" then when it finished showed the full value. It can be looked up by the RCI Deposit calculator and my understanding is it is set by RCI and not the resort.
Alexis K. (2:16:51 PM):No your resort values your week not RCI.
Me (2:16:53 PM):nonetheless, thanks for your help today!

Sure, in RCI points and in the minisystem portals they cut deals with developers on what deposits are worth. But the whole point of any exchange is to facilitate transfers and determine values. They publish a "deposit calculator" on their website. I don't see how resorts could determine it and dictate to RCI what the value is at the time the deposit is made.

I think Alexis K didn't know what she was talking about. In terms of 24 to 25 on a system that changes all the time I think if you have print screen with a time date stamp before you deposit and after you deposit and in all cases it shows 25, (even if they are trying to give you 24, you might be in luck.

I think if the difference were greater, personally I would be more inclined to fight it and it would be more obvious that it isn't just a moment in time difference +-1.

My week (30 at the colonies in Williamsburg) has held stead at 25 per side for all of the last 3 years. My experience is once it moves from pending to final it will go up to the full value -- will see if it happens this time. I was contacting them because of a different problem in the deposit going through, and that was successfully resolved.

And in the verification/confirmation process it was restored to 25 as it should have been.

I am a customer that studies the system and uses it a fair amount. I do not expect every CSR I
interact with to always know everything, and sometimes I may have more experience with certain things than they do.

What bugs me is in the last several months I have found several like Alex K that are emphatic on telling you things that are simply not correct.

I guess as affordable as their exchange fees are it may be hard to cough up funds to train the staff.

There is one peculiar thing with this deposit. I deposited a “the colonies” week and that is what showed in my pending notification. The actual deposit in my account is listed as “Vacation Village” Williamsburg. I do not own there, but the dates and trading power are right. Oh, well.
