RCI 5 Year Guest Pass/Certificate Question

I am thinking about getting the 5 Year guest pass/certificate for a family member.

Question: An RCI Points account comes with a free weeks account. If I buy the pass on my points account, can it be used with a reservation made on either the points or weeks account.

Note: I am surveying TUG to see what people have actually experienced. Before buying one, I will use the RCI representative chat feature to see what the official line is.

As far as I know the guest pass is not offered for an rci points account. You can pay for one on your rci weeks account but it would not apply to any points account bookings.

In RCI points, you can book a stay for a family member and pay $99 for a guest certificate so they can stay in the resort you booked them.

As an RCI points owner, you can book a stay you find via weeks or points and pay the same $99 fee.

If you pay for a platinum RCI membership you get a discount on the guest certificate fee.

I am an RCI points owner, so I don't know if a "guest pass" scenario is available in weeks.

As far as I know the guest pass is not offered for an rci points account. You can pay for one on your rci weeks account but it would not apply to any points account bookings.

If you look at the listed fees the guest pass is only listed as an rci weeks add on. There is no guest pass fee listed on the rci points fee page. Several years ago (more than 7) rci reps specifically confirmed that guest passes were not an option for an rci points account.

Per RCI rep, you can apply the guest certificate to both points and week account. You need to call/chat to let them know.

I think so. They said the certificate is for each guest and you can call/chat with them to apply to either points or week reservation. No need to buy 2 separate certificates.

This is good to know. I thought you could buy them for a weeks account but they did not exist for a points account, based on past TUG conversations and looking at RCI documents.

It's not available online. You need to call/chat with them to buy the 5 year certificate. It's $179 right now.

UPDATE to 5 yr guest certificate on RCI.. the cost now dec 2022 is $189 and the only way to find it is through chat with RCI rep.. Not sure if specific to a person for the time frame.. more likely it is.. I have two daughters and we got for one recently. apparently you much go through RCI rep in the future to attache the guest certificate to your reservation. if you have kids not on the deed it the best way to do it.
