If I have stayed in a resort with a 1 in 3 or 4 rule, am I then blocked from staying at the resort on an Extra Vacation or even just paying cash directly with the resort?

Following this thread, just read that a resort I want to go to has a 1 in 4 rule and I don't know what that means.

I don't know actual answer because nobody I mean nobody gives a straight answer. Some resorts say not there policy it's RCI, RCI says it's the resort. Some times the policy applies to exchanges other times it applies to exchanges and last calls. Many times it doesn't apply to RCI Points reservations, but only weeks but again YMMV. Many 1 in X resorts will allow simultaneous or back to back reservations under the rule.

The concept of it is your allowed one exchange in x years to that resort or group of resorts if multiple ones are included in rule. Generally RCI will block you from seeing ones you are not qualified to see. However I have read in an OGS they will still show up and could be accidentally booked and later cancelled by resort or RCI.

If you have a corporate account i.e one you access via a portal inside your TS owner account, you are generally also given access to a free weeks account this weeks account will have a different number and thus will give you access to another stay. All the 1 in X rules apply to RCI account # not person, so if you like many have multiple RCI accounts you could possibly do an exchange from each one to a resort with a 1 in x rule.

I personally wish they would just do away with these stupid rules, II seems to work just fine without them.

Generally not. Usually, 1-in-N only applies to Weeks inventory exchanges. Every once in a while you find an exception. Read the Urgent Information for your resort to get the full details.

We have stayed at a few 1 in X yrs resorts a few years in a row by doing Extra or Last Minute stays after an exchange many years ago. I have heard that some resorts, as well as RCI, are really cracking down on the rules now.
YMMV.

Thanks, now I know what it means.....looking to stay in Vegas in 2018, can't imagine I'd want to go back within 4 years but even if I did there's several to choose from
