Rare Supermoon Eclipse Comes Sunday - by Jareen Imam/ Space/ Science/ cnn.com

(CNN) "The supermoon, which comes around once every year, will appear 14% larger and 30% brighter in the sky that evening before it is engulfed by an eclipse for more than an hour.Stargazers, night owls and space observers, be prepared, the eclipse of the supermoon is coming.

The United States and much of the world will see skies graced by a bright, big moon that will be encapsulated in a total lunar eclipse late Sunday evening into early Monday, according to NASA.

The lunar combination is happening for the first time in 30 years.

The supermoon, which comes around once every year, will appear 14% larger and 30% brighter in the sky that evening before it is engulfed by an eclipse for more than an hour..."

Your Scientific Guide to This Sunday's Supermoon Lunar Eclipse - by Deborah Netburn/ Science/ Science Now/ Los Angeles Times/ latimes.com

"There's a supermoon lunar eclipse coming Sunday night, and it will be one of the coolest and most accessible sky-watching events of the year.

A lunar eclipse occurs when Earth's shadow falls on the moon, turning its usually silvery-white surface a dark, coppery red. This happens when the Earth moves between the moon and the sun.

Some people call a lunar eclipse a "blood moon" because of the reddish color of the lunar face. The moon looks red rather than black as it passes through the Earth's shadow because the scattered light from all the sunsets and sunrises on the rim of our globe still make it to the moon's surface...'"

See the Supermoom Lunar Eclipse Rise Tonight - by Miriam Kramer/ World/ mashable.com

"A rare cosmic coincidence is happening Sunday in dark skies around the world, and you won't need any special equipment to see it.

The moon will be at its closest point to Earth in its orbit as it is fully enveloped in Earth's shadow, making it a supermoon total lunar eclipse — a celestial event that hasn't happened since 1982 and won't happen again until 2033..."

Sun has only been down for a half hour or so, but we are overcast here, and will just have to take it on trust that the Earth's shadow covered the Moon as forecast.

I hope for a break in the clouds and to get a glimpse before the Apocalypse occurs and we miss the whole thing. :)

We are out in a hay field watching the moon. Currently the moon is very darkish. The coyotes are yipping. Life is good.

We have a very clear sky tonight, and the eclipse was very impressive.

A little hazy from southern California. We looked many times with our neighbors who took pictures with a very good camera. I didn't bother with my iPhone.

We're enjoying it here in the Cascade foothills north of Seattle. Pretty awesome!

For those who only had clouds, here's what you missed. ;)

The coyotes were also what we noticed. We watched from our patio and prior to the eclipse the coyotes (and the pheasants as well) were really making a racket, during the eclipse everything was silent only to pick up again after it was over. Interesting!

We are in Las Vegas this week and got to see a mediocre view. At the beginning if the eclipse, when the moon was blood red, it was a little cloudy. visibility improved as the eclipse took place, and afterwards, a bright moon was visible.

That's what I saw here in BC last night, only a very bright moon. When I got up very early this morning, it was still super bright.

Richard, you might consider editing your header to show the full moon/eclipse was on Sun 9/27/15, not 9/23.
