I was moving dirt today with a Bobcat and took a break setting my phone down on the front tire so I would see it. I had my ear buds in and was listening to music. Went back to moving dirt and forgot about my phone. I was still listening to music streaming from my phone. About 90 minutes later I was done but couldn't find my phone. I remembered I placed it on the front tire so I would see it. I had to use my wife's phone to use the Samsung find feature because my ringers off. I had buried it maybe 8 inches. I also ran over it multiple times. I did find my phone and it was fine but dirty. I feel kind of lucky.

Bought a new Ford truck a few months ago. A few weeks later, I couldn't find my key fob. And then remembered dropping my pants down the laundry chute without checking the pockets. Yep. it went through the wash. It survived just fine.

Years ago our oldest DS lost his phone in our driveway while clearing off his car during a crazy blizzard. He figures it fell out of his jacket pocket while he was stretching to clean the windshield. He did not realize he didnt have it until he got to work and used the find my phone feature on his work tablet to get an approximate location. He phoned me from his buddy's phone and asked me to go out to find it. By that time we probably had another 6 inches of snow on top of what had fallen when he left for work, I couldnt see it anywhere or hear it ring. I ended up getting a rake out of the shed and gently raked the snow until I found the phone. I brought it in the house, put it in a bag of rice in case it got wet inside, but it worked fine when DS got home and tried it. We were glad I found it before DH cleared the driveway with the snow blower that evening.

One day, I went looking for my phone.
I looked all over, under couch cushions, inside chairs...
I looked in the laundry and out in the garage.
Finally, I resorted to calling it with our landline.
I heard it ring. It was close, but nowhere to be seen.
It was then that I reached into my back pocket.

Just last week-

After hectic morning replacing the dead battery in his car ($200), my son forgot he placed his laptop on top of his trunk. He took off and it fell onto the street so he quickly made a U-turn and pulled over. As he opened the door to get out and retrieve it a car came and ran it over. It was destroyed. It was only 4 years old. A surface pro I think.

He drove an hour to Best Buy to buy a new computer.

His name is “Alex”ander.

I reminded him of the book I used to read to him:

“Alexander and the terrible, horrible no good, very bad day.”
