Quicken alternative

We have used Quicken for several years, but would like to change to a different program, if there is one. We do not use all of Quickens features, but we do have several accounts, use the checkbook register and like to be able to print checks.

So does anyone have an alternative they have used? I've seen Moneydance and Checkbook listed. Anyone used either of these?

TIA
Nancy

Would Mint.com work for you? It is a cloud-based personal money management application (owned by Intuit as well), and has the basic account management, investments, and bill pay.

I was also going to suggest this. My daughter uses it and loves it. I forgot about it when I signed up for the basic online quicken version recently but I'm going to see if I can move things over before I renew Quicken.

If you have a PC or laptop with Linux installed, you could try out KMyMoney. So far I haven't found a decent replacement for MSMoney on the windows platform. I have resisted the move to Quicken and still have to use Windows 8.1 since Money won't work with Windows 10. When I have to move, I will start over in KMyMoney since I have a few laptops with Linus and what I have seen so far I do like. Any switch will probably be on a year end cut-over.

I use Quicken primarily for downloading transactions with one-step update.
... and becuz, from the beginning, Intuit was a thorn in the MS juggernaut.
MS tried to buy Intuit in the mid-90's becuz Q was then the better product.

However, I use Excel spreadsheets for budgeting and financial planning,
projecting cash-flow and balances, and tracking investment performance.
