Hi! My name is Mariano Estrada, and i'm considering in buying a timeshare in wyndham.

But i have several questions and i was wondering if you could answer them for me:

1°) The points that i'm buying, in this case 154.000 points, are to use only on this particular resort (Wyndham Fairfield Plantation) or can be used in any resort of Wyndham like the Bonnet Creek in Orlando for instance?

2°) Is there any advantage if i go and book the especif resort that i bought? Do i have a benefit or a discount if i go the Wyndham Fairfield or it's the same if i go to any other resort?

3°) At this moment i'm a wyndham owner, if i decide to buy the points how can i annex them to my points? and if after i have more than 1million points can i still buy more? Do i have a top of points? Is there any advantaje or any kind of special treatment if you have more than 1 million, for instance 5 million?

4°) When the timeshare bought is only usable during pair years, do i still have to pay the maintenance during the unpair years?

5°) Can other members of wyndham transfer points to someone else?

6°) If i can only use this particular resort that i'm buying, can i transfer the points to RCI and use them there at my disposal?

I'm sorry for all the questions and the long thread. If you can reply i'll be very grateful.

Best regards

If you are buying resale, there is no advantage to having a certain number of points. And as far as I know, no limits. No discounts except for the occasional specials Wyndham runs on the booking website.

You can use points at any resort, but the ARP (home resort advantage) is from 13 to 9 months, during that time, you can only book where the points come from. If it is less than 9 months away you can book anywhere and combine two sets of points together.

You can transfer points to Rci but not to someone else. If you have an even or odd timeshare, you pay half the maintenance fee every year.

All Wyndham points can be used at any Wyndham Resort (not hotels). One difference is that the newer resorts cost more in points to stay at than the older resorts.

The benefit of where you own is that you can make reservations 13 months in advance whereas you (everyone) can make reservations at all other resorts 10 months in advance. If you want to stay at a popular resort like Bonnet Creek or Wisconsin Dells you may need to own there so you can have ARP (Advanced Reservation Priority) at 13 months.

As long as you give them your existing account number during the transfer period all your contracts, old and new, will be in the same account. You can use them together except for ARP as mentioned above.

I will let Ron P and other millionaire owners answer the rest of that question.

4°) When the timeshare bought is only usable during pair years, do i still have to pay the maintenance during the unpair years?

If you are asking about biennial units, yes, you pay maintenance fees both years, but it is cut in half. Generally Wyndham MFs are paid monthly.

5°) Can other members of wyndham transfer points to someone else?

Used to be able to, but no more. You can make a reservation for another person and "transfer" it to them using a guest certificate.

6°) If i can only use this particular resort that i'm buying, can i transfer the points to RCI and use them there at my disposal?

Wyndham points can be deposited into RCI and used there.

To explain more the answer for your Question #3...

Yes, you can own a 1,000,000 points - I even brought a million point contract once to add to my member number which had other contracts already in it.

Advantage - ONLY if you brought all 1,000,000 points directly from the Wyndham Sales group and PAID a lot of money. Resale points can be used to book timeshare vacation stays at the resorts within the Club Wyndham Plus family -- not hotels, not converted to airline or cruises or hotel units, or other items within the Plus Partners offerings. Yes, you can use the Wyndham reservation system as your access to use your points for RCI Exchanges which require a separate RCI Exchange fee (around $209 per exchange currently).

Thanks everyone for answering! I understand better now, i can "transfer" points with a guest certificate, but do i have a limit per year of guest certificates i can use? or it's unlimited?

Best regards

The only limit currently on Guest Certificates is they cost $99 each (online) or $129 each (via the call center)==> how much do you want to be paying? My friends can't believe it costs me $99 for each guest certificate.

Please, the term "transfer points" is not as correct as saying "renting a reservation"....

Doubts vs "Concerns"

Used to work for a Mexican owned company, through translation the Spanish word "dudas" translates to "doubts" literally, the general context would translate closer to "concerns".

"Dudas" in Spanish doesn't have the dis-belief connotation that the word "doubt" does in English.

Many presentations would be ended with preguntas y dudas Questions and Doubts.

I'm sorry i don't understand this very well, so you only recieve the benefits of of being a platinum member for example if you buy all your points directly for wyndham? Not from other owners? :(

Thanks for everyone's answers!

Yes and no, you only receive the platinum benefits if you buy enough points to earn platinum (1,000,000 Points I believe) from Wyndham.

You might want to call Ron - he is always willing to share, there are limited ways to achieve elite status, but the details of which might be beyond what can be communicated in this format.

Yes (to the Bolded above) ... that is the way Wyndham rewards direct buyers who spend a lot of money with them. Wyndham would lose money if YOU (and all other resale buyers) brought all your points for $1 AND you got VIP benefits.

Just to add the the confusion there are two separate programs to ownership Club Wyndham Plus (CWP) where you own a deed at single resort and have ARP privileges at that resort, and Club Wyndham Access, where you don't own a deed but a share of a basket of rooms at over 50 resorts. You have ARP privileges at all the resorts in the basket. But be aware the ARP stock for the two programs is (are?) separate, so you are competing for a smaller set of rooms, with a larger set of potential owners. At 8:00 (ET) in the morning you should be able to get anything you want 13 months out though as it's first come first served.

CWA maintenance feels are currently $4.91 a thousand, decent, you can do better in CWP, but you can also do worse. You also don't have to worry about special assessments and the rate hasn't changed in years.
