Hi there! Does anyone know if the owner we are purchasing resale from makes a reservation for us with points that would be lost in the transfer, if the reservation stays or will it get cancelled with the transfer of ownership? (Does that make sense?)

The answer is... it depends.

I'm presuming this is the last (only) contract in the current owner's account? If it is, the following could happen upon transfer:

1. The reservation transfers with it.
2. The reservation is cancelled but the points transfer with it.
3. The reservation is cancelled and the points are lost (but a call can address this if it occurs)

Some say that it is more likely the reservation will not be cancelled if it has a guest name on it. If the owner still has his free guest confirmation, it might be a good idea to add the guest information to the reservation.

Thank you! I guess it's worth trying? The person who is selling me the points has points that would basically go to waste since they wouldn't transfer to me so I've asked if they would book us a reservation. They said it would cancel after the ownership changed so I wasn't sure if it were worth trying. I would have to pay the fee for the guest certificate.

Is this deed the last one that the seller currently owns? If not, that could change the answer.

My understanding (one of the resident experts here can correct me if I'm wrong) is that reservations always stay with the current owner UNLESS they're getting rid of their last deed.

When I bought my resale -- the seller said that "due to change in policies" we can no longer make a reservation for you while the transfer is in progress.

This is a vendor, not a direct owner selling.
