Any suggestions on request for building and, possibly room (#) location people have enjoyed at the Barony Beach Club. I realize this is through interval, and there is no code on our reservation, but still would like to ask, and then see what they have available based on owners, etc.

Here's an older post with info about Barony's footprint, and here's an updated working link to the Barony Beach map. The only thing different from that post is that a new tenant has come into the spa, Namaste Spa.

There should be a code on your reservation, all three of my II ones have it for Barony.

Look on your "My History" page and the Exchanges tab, and you should see it.

The unit code may not mean much of anything at Barony. The HHI properties are notorious for "downgrading" those units for II exchangers.

True but if it's Garden view, they'll know what to expect. If it's something else they have a chance of not getting GV.

As far as I know all Interval International accommodations will be placed into the side rear isolated section of the property (behind the Westin Hotel).

Gone are the days when the South Carolina resorts would look at your ownership with Marriott and upgrade you to Oceanfront whenever possible (assuming you owned a lot of Marriott Timeshares).

.

There is nothing in our interval confirmation that gives any code, as in the past. However, we added the reservation to our Marriott account ,and when I looked there, it says, Oceanside, Courtyard. I really don't expect oceanfront or even a high floor anywhere, just wanted to get some ideas. We would like to request something, and whatever we get, we will be happy. What buildings would possibly be Oceanside, Courtyard?

To see the code, you have to go to My History, exchange Tab in your online II account. It is there.

Thank you. The interval code in 'my history' is HVILA. Knowing this may actually not be what Marriott follows, and from going back to much earlier posts, think it means 'Oceanview/Courtyard???? Am I correct. Again, we will not bank on it, but, at least, it is a beginning to put a request in and then whatever happens, we will be happy.

I have exchanged into Barony numerous times through II. I was always upgraded and never stayed in the Garden units behind the Westin. I owned Marriott Ocean Pointe.

Barony Beach Club map

"Oceanside" is the designation for all the units *that don't directly face the ocean* in 9600-Sea Oat and 9400-Morning Glory, and, for *every* unit in 9500-Live Oak and 9300-Bayberry. "Courtyard" is how the Marriott reservation system designates the units sold as "oceanside" at Barony. (Which for anyone who's not aware it isn't unusual for the two systems to use different designations, it's been happening for years.)

Good luck, Nance! If you go in expecting the worst you could be pleasantly surprised. :)

The code you listed is an Oceanside unit. I can't speak for Barony but Grande Ocean usually gives you the code of the reservation though a lower floor but they can downgrade you if they chose under the rules. The last 2-3 of years I've seen a general move to VERY hardline on unit assignments to match the code of the underlying reservation, in some cases, even when it was to their advantage to have some flexibility. Obviously Covid has had a large impact on this issue. It's true that II doesn't send the information anymore telling them this is a MVC to MVC code but if you call and let them know, they will take that into account. I'm betting you get OS not GV but I agree that you should be flexible and there would be no room to complain if it worked out otherwise.
