Question on Renting Points

I'm a trust points owner exploring the idea of renting points for next year. If a member transfers their 2026 User Year points to me in the context of a rental, will I have the same right to bank or borrow those points that the original owner had? Or are they restricted somehow?

Also, I see only very few offers for point rentals on the TUG Marketplace. Vacationpointsexchange.com has about 20 listings. Is this typical?
Are there any other good sources to check out?
Does the number of offers fluctuate seasonally in any predictable way?
Do you expect most of the offers are legitimate? Any historical statistics on the level of fraud?

Thank you for your thoughts on these questions.

Rented points can’t be banked, borrowed or transferred by you, they become stuck in that Use Year.

VPE seems to be the most active source There has been some fraud, so be cautions. I would only rent from someone who has the same handle on TUG that I can verify is the real deal.

And there is no “s” after “point” in their URL, otherwise you may get more than you bargain for. 😉

Another thing to note is the use year of the rented points vs. the trust points you own. Many points on VPE are January to December use year. Your trust points might be another year. So depending on when you want to use the points, you may need to be careful of what the use year is of the points you are renting.
