here's my question:
i own at the ocean club and have a reservation for same. i also have an unredeemed deposit that i was thinking of giving my kids and grandkids for same week at surf club. if we are there at the same time but at the two different clubs, would i be able to get a bracelet for the lazy river pool at the surf club cause i think the kids would enjoy that pool more?
TIA

You will be able to use one of theirs. You will not get your own.

Similar to the other poster, just get the max number of bracelets for the SC unit and use one for yourself.

Don't bother with a guest certificate for SC since you will be there to check in. Then when you checkin at Surf Club, just as for the number of bracelets for those staying in the SC plus one/two for you (as long as it is below the max occupancy). What they don't know won't hurt them.

Although I didn't really like this, I'll let you know what I saw last time I checked into the SC.

A large family was checking in. The guy that checked in (you could tell he was the ring leader) said he wanted 16 bracelets when asked. The woman said, "sir, I'm sorry, there is a maximum of 8 people per villa, so max of 8 bracelets". He got pissy really quick and said he has a unit in the OC with 8 people and a unit at SC with 8 people, so if she really thought that their large family was going to spend the week apart, she was mistaken. He was getting a little loud, so she just gave him the 16 bracelets.

I know that they advertise the units as sleeping 8 but I could not imagine staying there with 8 people. I've only had my SC week for 2 years but the most I've ever traveled with is 4.

We have had 7, but three were children.

Yeah, I know what you mean. We once stayed in a 2BR unit at Grand Dunes with 4 adults and 3 children. Although it was fine (none of the kids were ours, so we slept good) it was still a little cramped.

In the story I mentioned above, all 16 of the people in that family were over the age of 18. I wondered how they did it, but didn't care too much, because it wasn't me. :)

I don't have a problem with this...SO LONG AS no more than 8 bracelets are issued for a 2-bedroom unit (or 4, for a studio/1bedroom unit).

But the situation where 16 bracelets were issued, under pressure, bothers me. Things are crowded enough at the Surf Club pools/lazy river, and having additional people there who are not entitled to be there, is unfair and inconsiderate to all those who ARE entitled to be there. It's unfortunate that family could not (I assume) all be staying at the SC, but IMHO they should have made do with the 8 bracelets they were entitled to...switching them around so all the family members there could have use of the SC pool over their stay, just not all at the same time...making the best of a "bad" situation.

We are always at the Ocean Club weeks 51 and 52. It is very crowded then. Many of the OC owners and guests have family at the SC. From what I can see they share the wrist bands--no one has been given 16. I agree with you they should not make exceptions for anyone!!

That is ridiculous. It would have been difficult to keep my mouth shut. :ignore:
