Question about SPG Gold card

Hi

I have exchanged in to the Westin Lagunamar just after Easter. I'll be at the JW Marriott for 5 days and then a week at the Westin:)

I am a currently a Marriott rather than a Starwood owner and understand completely that Starwood owners will get their choice of rooms first - but I did wonder whether being a Gold SPG member might get me a few kudos when it came to room allocation? If it is useful then how might I include it on the reservation since I exchanged in rather than booked via Westin or Starwood?

No - first of all, SPG status doesn't apply at the timeshares, and 2ndly SPG Gold is so easy to get that it has very little value.
 
SPG Gold is easy to get - but have priorty over non-Gold (in my experience...) for SPG - and you would be surprised on how many non-Gold people travel to SPG hotels. It is just the Gold/Platinum make more noise (esp Plat) - so it just seems like more...

I have had benefit as a SPG Gold. :D

It is always a good idea to open an account for a hotel-chain if you plan to stay in that hotel.

I saw that - but I was responding to value of Gold in SPG (not SVO) - since you answered him on that (no priority unless you are jarta :p - ok, ok - kidding...)
