We have an upcoming reservation and are considering requesting the Kingfisher building (Instead of our normal request for Pompano), assuming it’s open now. It’s important for us to have a decently large beach and easy access, not so much the pool, which we walked around once and got the feel for it. And we have already read the reviews so we know this building is not for everyone. ;)

If you have stayed in this building and used the beach, how big was was the beach and was the access easy from the parking? We like to leave the beach cart and chairs, etc, in the car so we don’t drag sand into the room.

Thanks for any info/advice.

The beach is pretty big, but it has that ugly dredge there which can also collect seaweed around it. Though we still saw people swimming in it. There does seem to be a fair bit more action around the jetty area because of the public access to it from in front of Kingfish. Lots of people walking around and fishing. Though you can move up the beach a little to get away from that.

Leaving your stuff in the car and taking it to the beach when you go should not be an issue, you just have to pull it through the pool area, but no different than at the other buildings.

As much as I have talked about our distaste for Kingfish, we did request it for our upcoming stay.

I did do an entire video about the beach at Ocean Pointe on my YouTube channel if you want to check it out.

We just stayed in King Fish in June and we really liked it -- it was easy access to the beach and surf and we liked the relative quiet of the pool. Most of the normal amenities were closed at the primary pool so we didn't miss not being "in the thick of things".

I don't know how to answer your question about beach access from parking -- I think it was good -- potentially really good (but I'm not an OP expert) and I think it should be adequate for your needs. Let us know how it works out for you!

Best,

Greg

Thank you for your replies, Jeremy and Greg. We will request it and see how we like it. Since it’s hurricane season and there are still capacity restrictions, we don’t expect it to be overcrowded. And we can always go down the beach a bit if necessary.

PS. The video of the beach was great. Thanks for the link.

Just keep in mind the the majority of the units are considered ocean front. The ocean side units face north with a lovely parking lot view and the old pink condo (now painted white I believe).
If you don’t mind that view, beach access is easy and the beach is relatively wide at that section.
We prefer Kingfish but we are 3 bedroom ocean front owners

There are two beach views by Kingfish.

You can sit out by the waters edge and the waves. Swimming can be very nice or it can be rough. If you get your head around the seaweed as bladder connected ribbons of seagrass its not so bad to wade through the clusters to the clear spots. Its not slimy string.

On days you want to just sit and absorb the beach you can park your car near the entrance. That way you can easily roll your cart down the inlet street and set your chairs facing south and the inlet. Its an easy walk back to the gate if you want to visit your room for a bit.
