We are thinking visiting Punta De Mita while we are at Puerto Vallarta. Is it worth the visit? What is there to do or a good stop-over?

We have been there, but did not go up to the Four Seasons Resort that is supposed to be awesome. Punta Mita is a small town and we drove through it before heading back for lunch in Bucerias. We had expected more in Punta Mita, but did get the opportunity to see the country-side and how the locals live. We prefer Bucerias beach area and restaurants. Bucerias is just north of Nuevo Vallarta.

We once drove from NV to Punta De Mita and had lunch at the Four Seasons. We told the guard we were going for lunch and he let us in with no problem. We walked around the resort a bit, very beautiful, and lunch was very good too. BTW, we were just going there, we had no prior reservations.

Several years ago we were staying at Rancho Banderas and decided we would like to see the golf course at the Four Seasons. Someone at our resort called to ask if we could do this and they said yes. We arrived and the guard let us in and when we got to the pro shop there was a golf car with two bottles of water waiting for us. They let us drive around this beautiful golf course and when we returned they took us for a tour of the resort. I would love to stay there sometime. We did check out the town as well but we also prefer Bucerias.

We are thinking and planning to stay at St. Regis for 5 nights. Is there anything interesting to do around the area? We have no car. Are we pretty much stuck in the resort? Is there car rental nearby for few days?

Maybe you should just rent a car off the get go. Punta Mita is a 40 minutes drive from Puerto Vallarta. We usually stay in Nuevo Vallarta and drive to Punta de Mita for fishing. Sometimes we will drive over to Mita and then head over to Sayulita or San Francisco for dinner on the beach.

There are some new restaurants in La Cruz but Bucerias and PV is where all the main restaurant action is unless you like to surf, then it would be Sayulita.

Punta Mita is a good place to grab a tuna panga. Thats about it, imo.

We did the same, it was lovely...what a wonderful location and a great lunch.
