This was our first PV New Years Eve and we loved it. We started in the Romantic Zone at 9.30 pm and found the oxxo store with canned cocktails so that was the beverages for the night. Kind of wandered along the seawall as the Malecon filled up with all ages of revelers from infant to I'm thinking over 90.

In the midway of the Malecon there was a decent Mexican Band. The young women were going nuts as the good looking young man singer pointed and waved at them. I think he winked at my wife, lol. She says it was the young girls near us that got the winks and today I'm giving her winks that Crack us up.

Before midnight and the fireworks there was a drone show that displayed images in the sky. It was our first drone show and we enjoyed it.

Then came the spectacular fireworks show. One of the best I've seen. It put the waikiki fireworks show to shame, imo.

Around 1 am we were able to grab a bite and then catch an Uber. We made it back to the condo around 2.30 am. We feel pretty good today. No hangover but a bit tired from walking around last night.

Happy 2025 .

We’re going to Puerto Vallarta on Monday, for a week. Do you recommend that Malecon midway area as a place to explore at night? We’re staying at an all inclusive resort so weren’t really planning on going out and exploring much.
Happy New year.

What we like to do is walk the entire Malecon and cross the river into the Romantic zone and just take in the vibe right before sunset. The sunset is beautiful and then the sky turns colors for a good hour. They call it the golden hour but the sky can be many gourgous colors.

Around 11pm the party people start showing up. The clubs are mostly on the north end. You don't have to enter the clubs to see some of the action . People dress for clubbing and it's interesting to see them.

At the north end of the Malecon is an oxxo and on the walk south through the Romantic zone is another so there are beverages including my favorite which is water, lol.

Hi Brian! We'll arrive in PV on Saturday (1/4) Staying at Buganvilas. We enjoy the Malacon & Romantic zone. As always, just be careful and aware of your surroundings. And don't let your guard down with too much to drink.

The Mexican National Gaurd and a new type of PV Police were everywhere we went , so a criminal act is probably rare. The big dangers are the uneven areas of walkways , traffic and high curbs. We won't eat anything that isn't cooked or packaged but many of our friends do with no problems.

In the area of the Malecon near the Catherdral are many art shops and restaurants. There was an art walk on certain evenings which was fun.

Long story short, PV is a very safe place but you could easily stub a toe.
