How is Puerto Rico? We are looking for a bit of change from our usual Cancun Summer Vacation. I notice pretty cheap air to Puerto Rico, but none of the resorts on TUG are rated very high.
Anyone travel to PR? How is the island for a family beach vacation?

Thanks,
Mike

We were in Puerto Rico last year. We stayed in a hotel, not a time share. The Island was great. Lovely beaches, lush rain forest, plenty of places to tour.

I have been there several times, pre TS. 4 weeks in the San Juan area and two weeks in Rincon. Loved it and would go back in a heartbeat. I just wish they had more TS selection. The people in the Rincon area were extremely friendly, especially with the language barrier.

How Are The Beaches?

How are the beaches? How is PR for children?

The official PR tourism dept web site is : www.gotopuertorico.com

The best timeshares there are the hyatt, club aquarius in Dorado and club cala in Palmas del mar. I have seen the hyatt it once in II during flexchange. The PR timeshare exchanges are more difficult that I thought and I am not sure if its my week trading power or just lack of availability. I am using a high quality resort with a yellow(mid) season. I can see Disney but not much about PR. What is your experience?

Puerto Rico its great

Puerto Rico is great, especially if you own with the Hyatt. Its absolutely beautiful. Great beaches, restaurants, and golf courses. The old san juan wow what a great place, very nicely dressed, drinks, gambling, sun, how much better can it get. The rain forest is beautiful and one of a kind, the beaches and water is warm...... I reccomend you go...you will have fun.

Beaches are great. I particularly like Loquillo Beach on the eastern side of the island. Good surfing at Rincon.

I traded into Puerto Rico a few years ago through DAE for a holiday week at ESJ Towers, which has a great location on a great beach, but is only average in terms of the unit. There was a bus right outside the resort that took you to Old San Juan. Old San Juan is great and between that and the beach, the location, for us, trumps a snazzier resort in a more remote location.

I was looking at the DAE site a bit ago and noticed they had some ESJ Towers weeks, as well as some other resorts availible on Puerto Rico for 2008.
